Just got an email from Mass Appeal that they're stocked out of the Magic physicals and tshirts and are issueing a refund.

The GOAT got the WOAT distribution :russ:
Nas gotta stop by Alchemist's crib and have him explain the vinyl shop/limited release/etc game. The album covers of these recent albums are so dope he could def make a killing with efficient, limited vinyl drops throughout the yesr.

this whole convo rubbed me the wrong way . Like @Piff Perkins said we support Nas to the fullest but you can't be waiting 3 months after release to drop videos for the most popular songs on albums (Wave Gods) example. Dropping Merch 6 months later :martin: . Not do any promo outside of IG then call out the fanbase. We are the reason he still charting in the first place also the amazing music he been dropping. You want new blood get Cole on a feature on some back & forth rap shyt they both got similar bases. IDK shyt like that as a fan is bs to me:manny:

I don't interact with that account :mjlol: . I just posted the convo because shyt like that is stupid imo. There are ways to keep the #'s steady do more promo stay active means more than promoting shyt outside of IG. Like I said before its criminal how they treated Magic. No proper rollout for an album that good was dumb as fukk. I haven't heard album since it released that's been better

Yeah this shyt doesn't make much sense to me.
Why is it when they gave the base the sound they wanted with Magic they chose not to promote it? Seems like they just don't trust the style he's known for to appeal to the masses. You can't blame the fanbase for that. With the critical reception it got who knows how much bigger it could have been if they gave it the same push as KD1 and 2. Stillmatic was just trending on Twitter and I'm sure that exposed the album to a lot of people who had never heard it. It was his core base, not new fans, that had Nas' name ringing. It's not like the music for his base can't also resonate with the younger generation. Rare and Nobody got double the streams that YKTV did.

Seems like he's independent now and doesn't want to risk becoming a fading legacy act, but he's not just any rapper, he's Nas. If the music is quality its going to be culturally relevant.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Crazy that LIG was 10 years ago holy sh1t time flies.

Love that album. The first hiphop album for Middle Aged men lol and Nas most personal album coming off his divorce

It’s crazy that a lot of the best songs were left off the original and are on the deluxe

Nasty
Roses
Where the love
Black bond
I’ve only ever listened to or heard the deluxe version of the album. That’s the full album in my eyes.

Yea I definitely think they can do more on the promo and definitely plan out the merch drops etc… better. Magic is a gem and definitely needed additional promo. I think since nas is the main act on mass appeal for now then he has to think a little bit for his core but also bridge into the new base as well that will help carry his legacy even further. I think him and hit have done a good job of that so far where nas has still been nas but

i think him and hit have done a good job of mixing the new in with the old so far. I’m sure that will continue on kd3. But yea I agree Magic is a gem and needed to marketed heavy and they should get the merch release corrected.

I'm probably in the minority, but that's one of the illest beats I ever heard. And Nas' energy that he brought to the track makes me think he thought the same thing about it....

The production on that song was crazy. I remember the write up from the listening sessions described it as such. Life Is Good is one of the first times where I read listening session reactions and the hype matched the music.

Am I the only one who didn’t really like LIG :lupe:

I liked it when it came out, but I think I played it too much in that gap he didn't release anything until Nasir and got sick of it

Queen's Story, Stay, Black Bond, The Don, Back When, Where's the Love, Trust are all still dope to me... but I find myself skipping over a lot of the rest of it

I could be wrong but wasn’t there a different beat for Queen’s Story in the listening sessions? It was a Marvin Gaye sample but they couldn’t clear it for the release.
