Hey Nas is:trash: to me
I like the throwback beat and I think he did his thing with the lyrics on there for what it is...I wasn't really feeling the hook like that tho, Claudette Ortiz sang it alright (Kelis sounded out of place) but it just wasn't a good chorus to me. Still a cool song tho, ridin music type shyt.

hey nas is classic to me

zone out is so FIRE imo nas pays homage like no other

I get Zone Out is abrasive or whatever but Nas slaughters that track. His verse is :whew:

Never understood the dislike for Hey Nas. Just a cool laid back track with a nice groove. Beat reminds me of something Puff would've done for an R&B track in 1996 and I don't mean that in a negative way

Always thought the song was dope if for no other reason than the bonded. Only difference is it that it's always reminded me of Toni's "You're Making Me High", which came out in 1996.

I was listening to Stillmatic probably 15/16 years old. To have "Rewind", "2nd Childhood", "One Mic" and "What Goes Around" on the same album had me with the same face as the smilies in your post.
shyt, it hit me about 3 years ago when I turned 17. Was bumping It Was Written and it had a young breh astonished :whew:

I read a article from the musical producer from Ozark and he said they wanted to use more songs from Illmatic but they couldn't get them cleared because it was in the middle of the pandemic and it required people from Sony to actually be in the office to get that done for whatever reason.. I know Nas doesn't own the masters to Illmatic but somebody please tell me he got paid for this because Illmatic literally played the whole 1st episode lol That had to be bank

Nas doesn’t own the Masters but he owns 100% of his publishing so yes he definitely got paid
