Listening to the first episode now.

Nas sounds energized and open talking about the park jams with Jungle.

To everyone who said Nas couldn’t or shouldn’t do a podcast. You are complete IDIOTS and i’m glad Nas has never listened to his so called “fans” and continues doing whatever the fukk he wants

This is THE most “eloquent” Jungle has ever sounded. This is the type of interview that lets you know their really brothers. When Jungle is more subdued his cadence and manner is extremely similar to Nas’s.

Also that story about a kid jungle and Ill Will using slingshots to fukk up park jam performers got me :russ:

Cliff Notes for episode 1

-Nas and Jungle’s first time going to a park jam ended in a shootout. Nas says a guy named Harvey has footage of the incident and on the camera a young Jungle and Ill Will can be seen using sling shots to harass the performers.

-Nas says that the first professional rap show he went to was Das EFX and a fight started in the crowd and they had to be pulled off stage by security.

-Jungle said that Nas chipped his tooth swinging from the bath tub and landed right in front of him while he was on the toilet. He said Nas got up and tried to put his busted tooth back together so he wouldn’t get in trouble.

-Jungle reminder Nas that he was too scared to rap at the park jams when they were kids. Nas then spit his verse from Halftime “I was too scared to kick my little raps cause i thought nikkas wouldn’t understand” in response

-Nas said he always knew he was destined to be a great rapper because he would see Roxzanne Shante and MC Shan perform and he even as a kid he felt he could keep up with them.

-Miss Info said she listened to Illmatic on her Sony Walkman on the way to work and was so overwhelmed she listened to album ten times without even getting on the train to go to work. Said she knew instantly she had to give it 5 Mics and that everyone at The Source agreed.

-Nas said that Illmatic getting 5 Mics changed the marketing plan and Columbia knew at the point Nas was special.

-Nas and Jungle said that every album release party for Illmatic got shut down because their crews were too rowdy. Said that even Biggie told him it was too much.

-Nas said that Columbia threatened to drop him “multiple times” before Illmatic came out for a number of different reasons, including his crew being too wild and him still being in the streets. Said that promo shows would get shut down due to violence.

-Nas said that he had to buy his own food and his own clothes for Illmatic video shoots. Said that the video crew had catering but not him.

-Nas said he had to “threaten” MC Serch to get out of his deal with him because Serch wasn’t really managing him after he signed to Columbia because Serch and Columbia fell out. Jungle shouts out Serch and said Serch once paid $1,000 to get him bailed out of jail.

-Nas talks about Large Professor introducing him to Carmen. Nas said that Carmen, her brother Van, and Large Pro lived together and he got Large Pro and Van to leave so he could move in with Carmen.

I've listened to all 3 so far and they are all so dope. Nas sounds comfortable and mISS info being the partner is perfect. Nas gives his flowers to everyone he respects.

Scarface, Kanye, Ghostface, Rza... have all given nas the highest of praise within the past couple of months. I feel like I'm missing a few others.

Khaled
Lebron James
Cordae
Lupe Fiasco

Nas has gotten a LOT of goodwill from Kings Disease 2’s release. His momentum from winning his first Grammy and then turning around and putting out an even BETTER album has put him right back at the forefront of mainstream lyricism similar to how acclaimed he was when Life Is Good dropped.

Pharoahe Monch said Nas was the GOAT around the first few days of KD2 being released, too
