Seeing the Gawd with Erykah Badu this Friday:ahh:

He doing a big ass arena too right? (State Farm) and in the south no less

Thats pretty impressive for this deep in his career when he usually doesnt do those 20,000 seat arenas

How was it?

VERY GOOD

So this is my first time seeing A Nas concert where he wasn’t the headliner. He still performed for a good hour and a half, it just wasn’t as epic as the Illmatic 20th anniversary concert or the Hip Hop Is Dead concert i went to previously.

I expected him to come out to Not For Radio since thats the intro to his latest album, but he actually came out to No Introduction (first time i’ve seen him perform that live) he did the first verse and then went straight into NY State Of Mind. He did 4 cuts from illmatic (NY state Of Mind, Life’s A bytch, The World Is Yours, One Love) and then basically two cuts per album. He did The Message, Street Dreams, and of course If I Ruled The World. Then he did Hate Me Now and Nas Is Like. A highlight was he actually performed You Owe Me! EVERY chick in the venue lost their minds, i forgot how popular that song is! Then he went into a couple guest verses (Hot Boys Remix, Verbal Intercourse) and a few cuts off of Stillmatic and Gods Son. He closed out with Cops Shot The Kid, Adam & Eve, One Mic, and Stay.

Overall very good show. The crowd was hype and showed him mad love. The songs that got the most reactions were NY State Of Mind, If I Ruled The World, Hate Me Now, You Owe Me, I Can, and One Mic. I saw females crying and shyt while he was doing One Mic.

Erykah showed late as fukk. I was ready to go but the chick i was with REALLY wanted to see her so we stayed. She was really good though, has good stage presence and is an engaging performer

Thats dope he's stilll incorporating Life is Good tracks into his set. When I saw him headline in Dubai back in December he did Mostly Illmalitc-God Son era joints and Adam and Eve and Cops Shot the Kid. Last couple of times before that when I seen him with no album to promote thats been his set (Illmatic-God Son) and Im hoping for the 25th Anniversary set he would throw in HHID and LIG more regularly as he does those cuts sometimes (Dude never does Streets Discuple and Untitled aside from when he had to promote those albums :pachaha:)
Seems like Nasir might be one of those albums he might not do too many cuts off either as he continues to preform, but I feel you on Not for the Radio, I actually think for all the flaws on it, it sounds like it would work as a fire intro to his shows. Nowadays he omes out to Get Down.

I seen dude like 12 times so while I think hes actually pretty good I also get how some shows might not be epic as other times you seen him

I'm probably gonna be seeing him again in the summer as there's a couple of festivals in June in the UK hes doing that might be passing throug anyway. One of them De La Soul and Nippsey Hustle will be opening for him and then theres a festival up north in Manchester happening the following week and Pusha T, Earl Sweatshirt and Solange are performing same night as him....so seeing as I never got that Pusha T-Nas tour we thought we might be getting last summer I might roll to that:skip:

Overall how was the arena atmosphere? I've seen him do a couple of Arena shows in London (Ironically one where Erykah Badu opened up fo him and Damian) and it was kinda dope, especially Life is Good at the O2 cause they tired some big arena type stuff (Changing sets, utlizing video, going into crowd on a stage) but didnt go all the way with it as he's a much more conservative stag perfomer (DJ and band and thats it) but I'd like to see him try stuff
