In 2017 not much but there is still this perception from artists that its clout and keeps you in circles of relevance etc. I'm still not entirely convinced Chance is 100% indepndent and doesnt have some lowkey Interscope/UMG help.

I don't think Nas needs to feed into perceptions at this stage of his career. I also feel like UMG is trying to have their hooks in the Nas brand themselves with their recent investment.
