That scene at the bridge was similar to the scene in the chapo series. Was those two scenes based on the same event?

Enrique Rafael Clavel Moreno

"Enrique Rafael Clavel Moreno (died 1989) was a Venezuelan drug trafficker and an associate of the Tijuana Cartel. In 1989, the Arellano Felix brothers sent him to infiltrate Sinaloa Cartel lieutenant Hector Luis Palma Salazar's family and seduce his wife Guadalupe Leija Serrano. After convincing her to withdraw $7 million from one of Palma's bank accounts, Clavel beheaded her and sent her head to Palma in a box. Two weeks later, he killed his children Hector (age 5) and Nataly (age 4) by throwing them off a bridge in Venezuela. Palma retaliated by sending his men to kill Clavel while he was in prison."

This would've played out much better in the series, had Narcos stuck to the script. It would explain some of the animosity between Tijuana and Sinaloa.

So the el chapo series version was more accurate it sounds.

Bodies are dropping in Comuna 13 right now. Something flared up in recent weeks. I'm pretty fluent in Spanish. So my conversations can sometimes lead to some pretty interesting info from locals when I travel.

As I was told in Spanish by some of the residents and a couple of older taxi guys while we were there, there's never really peace, just a truce. All they know is war, from La Violencia of the 40s-50s, Pablo's reign and eventual war with the Colombian govt (late 80s-early 90s), the battle for turf after he died (mid-90s), Los Pepes turned into paracos (AUC) vs FARC & ELN (mid 90s to mid-2000s), and now the modern-day gangs. Me and my lady were able to navigate freely, but only on the tourist-friendly paths. That whole area is still under rule. Businesses paying vacunas (extortion) for protection. I wouldn't mess around up there at night.

I didn't do the Pablo tour or anything. We really had no interest in it. I have some Colombians friends from the Caribbean coast who were in Bucaramanga on vacation, and drove over to Hacienda Napoles to check it out. One of my exes had lived through those times in Medellin, and it wasn't nothing sweet. We just went up to Guatape and El Penon. While in Guatape, we did a boat tour of the lake. Pablo had something close to 300 properties around that lake back in those times. Some had been repatriated to the govt and still in use, some were burnt out by Los Pepes and left the same 30 yrs later, some still being used by his remaining family.

Yeah, some folks still have a lot of love for Pablo, mostly in Medellin of course. They showed us the barrio that he created for the poor back in the day. The educated and such absolutely hate him, as many families were destroyed by his actions back then. One thing I would advise, don't ever buy or wear one of those Pablo Escobar t-shirts. It's a very open wound still.

And yeah, Popeye died of cancer 2-3 weeks ago. Pablo Escobar's chief hitman 'Popeye' dies of cancer - CNN That's a whole other story.

Interesting.

Comuna 13 has got exactly the look and feel of a Brazilian favela and you know how those are. The vibes are were good and they (the country as a whole) are the coolest people I've met, but you know Colombians can get real :demonic:when they're ready. I was the only black guy in my group when we did the Comuna 13 tour so I stood out, so the black Colombians especially were real friendly and were dapping me. My spanish is extremely limited so I couldn't chop it up with them like I wanted to, but you know how it is when you see your own kind - energy says it all. Unless I knew people there who were connected, I wouldn't go there at night either no matter how much I can blend in.

I stayed in El Poblado which is the more upscale area of Medellin. I walked around at night even in other surrounding areas like it was nothing and people were cool - even when the areas were looking sketchy I still had no problems....but when it started to look a lil too sketchy then of course I turned back around lol. And yeah - wearing a Pablo t-shirt is dumb. After doing my research on Colombia through hours reading articles and watching videos (thanks mainly to the boy Jubril and many others), I learned that ain't a wise thing to do.

After Guatape we did the boat tour too. I got video of it and everything and saw all those properties. They're in great locations but it's a shame about the dark history behind it.

Colombia as a whole is a very interesting country, just in terms of landscape alone. You're in Medellin/Guatape one minute, then less than hour away you can fly to Cartagena which is a totally different world altogether - you wouldn't even think you're in the same country. It kind of reminded me of Panama where I stayed the week before.

I typed all this and now I'm missing the fukk out of the country and wanna go back tomorrow lol. :mjcry:

decent season...just finished it up...I missed don neto and rafa’s characters tho...and the dynamic that existed between them and felix
Ah you nailed it, I missed that dynamic too. Every time Felix said he doesn’t have partners it showed how alone he really was without those two.

That Rafa fukkery was :wow:

no doubt I was just there. You have the damn Amazon Jungle, and pretty much a mountain city (Bogota) in the same country with very different looking ppl based on origin and sadly Spanish rape and pillage.

So mad at this shyt. fukking referencing a movie that would have come out around the same time and a damn Biggie lyric from the 90's that they tried to spin.

And finally, the damn attire is completely in the wrong time.

Scarface came out in 83 and the never get high line is directly from that same movie bro...

:picard: That's stupid especially when you see Mexico got some wild ass stories to adapt. Narcos can be an anthology series for as long as cartels or drug lords exist.
