It really doesn't matter how badly he contradicts with Mitten's image. Let's not forget that Obama ran as a Washington outsider and picked Joe Biden as his running mate -- the most prototypical insider of all. His budget plans also don't particularly matter. A VP doesn't get any say in policy-making. Biden was a supporter of partitioning Iraq into three parts. Has that happened with him in office? No.

Ryan has the two things Romney lacks most; charisma and Tea Party credibility.

That's really all Romney needs.

That's true in some sense, but Ryan doesn't have the kind of seniority it would take to truly direct a Romney white house. Mitt may come off a stodgy and malleable during election season but when it comes to the technocratic details of running a country, he won't give a fukk what Ryan has to say. Ryan, for his part, is a brown-noser who will do anything to please his president.

Seniority, No. But he has the influence within the party to have a very big impact in a Romney white House. If this dude ran for the top spot, he would've beat Romney. I imagine Romney's choice would've been Pawlenty. The Ryan choice was no doubt made by neo cons and wealthy donors who dont trust Mitt and want someone to make sure he goes full Republitard.

He doesn't have that much influence within the party. He's a show-pony. Let's remember: Paul Ryan is famous because the Democrats, not the Republicans, made him so in an attempt to discredit the GOPs views on social security and such. I have no doubt that he would have lost to Romney in a primary election.

Breh, even Newt Gingrich said his budget plan was crazy. I'm sure he'll flip flop on that but still.

This is NOT going to help Romney's popularity with the elderly. I think Romney just threw Florida in the bushes.

I'm sure Tea Partiers love Ryan, but in all honestly they were going to vote Republican no matter who the nominee was. I can't see Ryan helping with the two most important demographics for Romney, which are Independents and Latinos.

1. All of Paul Ryan's proposed reforms to Medicare do not affect anyone currently on Medicare.

2. When Democrats began demagoguing Ryan on Medicare, he can point out that Obamacare calls for $500 billion less in Medicare spending over the next 10 years.

Mitt Romney's campaign awkwardly backpedaled Saturday after the presumptive Republican presidential nominee waded into a contentious GOP primary fight in Virginia during his second campaign event alongside his new running mate Paul Ryan.

Speaking at a rally in Ashland, a picturesque town just north of Richmond, Romney described Virginia Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, who was in attendance, as "a great friend, and I hope the next governor of Virginia."

The remarks caught the attention of Virginia politicos who know that Bolling is running for the 2013 gubernatorial nomination against state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, a darling of conservative activists who is trouncing Bolling in early polling.
Quote:
Romney and his aides tried to walk back the comments after the event.

Speaking to an overflow crowd after the Ashland rally, Romney talked about the need to elect a Republican governor in 2013 and said: "There are a couple of guys in the race, I love them both. I want to see one of those guys take his place."

Separately, a Romney adviser told CNN that while Romney "wants to see a Republican as governor of Virginia, he has not endorsed in the primary."

I respect that Ryan actually has a plan to fix the economy unlike all of the other candidates. He is a bold crusader. This is definitely a huge gamble for the GOP though.

ryan, the same congressman who voted for the very policies that placed us in debt, has a plan? really?
