According to A9VG, Kojima just announced that the release date of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain would be revealed soon. In the same stage event in Taipei Game Show, he also said the Chinese version of MGS5:TPP and MGS5:GZ would be released exclusively on PS4 and PS3, which is Konami and SCE Taiwan translation team.

Hideo Kojima put the old PlayStation version of Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, but he would like to see more, as he revealed at Taipei Game Show during a media session reported by Famitsu.
When asked what he thinks about being able to play the earlier metal gear games on PS4, Kojima responded that he cannot work on it, since he’s busy with the new game.
That said, he elaborated further, by saying that he’d like to play in an open world Shadow Moses, so he’d like to see a remake of the first game. Unfortunately, no one steps forward to do it.
Such a production, Kojima continued, would not only need the tools and the engine, but also the workforce, as he thinks everyone would like to play in the first game.

having played all metal gears (yes even the MSX joints)

MGS1 is still serviceable as is, its MG1 and MG2 that really need remaking. MGS1 basically incorporated a lot of ideas from the first two anyway.

Plus, MG2 had some areas that could work well an open world. The swamplands and the desert between bases from what I remember. plus with those games being so bare bones and old, you could get away with a lot more retconning to fit the story.
