Oh why not? Other guy said the game is already making a couple F4 members get younger fans.
Disney makes confusing marketing decisions and Marvel RIvals is it's own thing. It's like how the MCU at it's height had no impact on Marvel comic sales. Marvel Rivals popularity helps the overrall brands, but I don't think it's going to move the needle much in terms of box office imo.

They should add new characters to the game couple of months before every movie then. Falcon ain't on there right? lol
Yeah, the Falcon shyt is egregious. They shoulda put him in as Sam Wilson and then he could have Falcon and Captain America skins, no problem.

Whether Disney has a strong guiding hand in every decision to ensure optimum corporate brand synergy or not, this is gonna do a ton for a lot of their characters.

Think of it this way:
The X-Men became a movie powerhouse because it averaged 4M weekly viewers in the 90s.

Marvel Rivals has been downloaded by over 20M users in less than a month and has instantly become the number one hero shooter and isn't just maintaining its playerbase, it's growing with every update.

The devs are pumping out characters and the cosmetics have been selling like hotcakes. It absolutely will have an impact for a new generation of young people to fall in love with these characters that they are interacting with for 5+ hours a week.

And just like with X-Men TAS fans back in the day, the new fans will hype up their new favorite characters to their friends when the new movies come around. This is how the adaptation game works when it's done right, start stacking successes by leveraging different forms of media.

Will Marvel Rivals success help the movie brand at all going forward?
I think it will only if Rivals doesn’t fumble it of course. The Fantastic Four after years of being deemed lame. Are now getting the most love I’ve seen them get in a while. Same thing happened to Cyclops because of X-men 97. And to Deadpool because of memes and Marvel vs Capcom 3.

This is true in a vacuum... buuuuuuuuuuuut Storm can be older mentor like in X-Men Evolution, it fits her character since she was never a kid when she joined the X-Men. Colossus was the only Giant-Size addition that was a teenager like the O5 (this was actually a story point because the new X-Men were mostly adults who didn't really want a teacher or a father figure). It also makes her a better fit if they recast T'Challa with Aldis Hodge or anyone else they've been eyeing, tbh.

Plus black women stay fine forever. They wanted Angela Basset to play her 40 years ago and she still bad
:wow:
Storm doesn't need to be bothered with being Jean Grey's magic mammy negro lol. Storm deserves a character arc about herself. Jodie Turner-Smith and Hodge are both 38.

Unless the X-Men are all students, then they will also be in a mentor position. Being a mentor doesn't automatically put a character in a supporting role. Wolverine was in the "mentor" role in the Fox X-Men movies by virtue of not being a student and I don't think anyone would argue that he existed in service to any other character.

Yeah but there isn't a lot of fukkery going on with the marvel characters in Rivals though. Largely because it was outsourced to a foreign company, they understood the assignment. It's just all the characters everyone knows and loves (with a few new additions) as they are in the comics just with a new coat of paint on them. An animated movie with a style similar to Rivals would translate better to box office sales than it would to the MCU.

EDIT: I do think the Fantastic 4 movie may do okay, because there isn't a bunch of baggage attached to them though. X-men too if they don't mess with the formula too much.

I think you might be underestimating how much playing time playing a game character can endear them to gamers. And your argument that an animated series would be better than Rivals is irrelevant to the question, which was will Marvel Rivals provide any lift to the MCU. He wasn't asking if there are possible alternatives that would work even better.

Getting people to go buy comics is infinitely harder than getting them to watch a movie. No shade, I just don't think you're really in touch with how many people are connecting with this game. Yes, this is anecdotal but there are a lot of anecdotes just like this.

Apparently a lot of marvel fans are tripping about this. They can miss with that. This is a phenomenal casting.

Maybe they think she ain't bad enough.

I always thought Angie Everhart should have got the nod over Famke back in the day.
