Looks fire.

But I'm not feeling them throwing T'Challa in the bushes.

Chadwick was a great man and it's sad he died so early, but it's like James Bond, the character is bigger than the actor.

yeah lol and like i said earlier, T'Challa is supposed to be that dude, and in BP1 damn near came from death to get his crown back, so cant just 'kill him' have a funeral and move on. The journey to this death would damn near have to be an hour in itself.

Shuri was already a Black Panther in the comics so I have no problems with it in the movie. She was also one of the best parts of the first movie so I’ll let them cook on that.

I also think we’re in for some surprises that haven’t been leaked which is why I’m seeing this shyt in IMAX on Thursday night.

The punisher put on black face in the comics and teamed up with Luke Cage, you think that should be put in a movie too just because it was in the comics

Comics have countless of stupid ass story lines or character swaps, doesn't mean it should be adapted to film

Seems like they gave Coogler the budget they should've given him for the first one. Looks beautiful.

And it still makes more sense to me for Nakia to be the next BP based off her character in the previous title, but I'm sure Letitia has the range to pull it off, if that's the route they're going.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Feige and marvel was in a bind with the passing of Chad because if they wouldve announced replacing him right away they would get the terrence howard “all yall nikkas look the same” debacle brought back up and plus Coogler and the cast got a lil more clout with the billy success so they had to get they input 1st since they all became so close. Would explain why they tolerated leticia’s vaccine push back too.

All they got to do is put “ T’Challa will return” at the end of the credits and they will get a standing ovation

:yeshrug:

1. The cast didn’t want to recast T’Challa. They wanted to honor Chadwick’s memory through this movie which means recasting is probably out of the question.

2. I think people are more concerned with having a strong male lead than recasting at this point. Killmonger killed Wakandans and was ready to go to war with the rest of the world, yet people would rather see him as the New Black Panther. Even at the end of the first movie, he chose death over accountability. How could you want him to be king.

3. If Shuri was a dude, there wouldn’t be an issue. I think people just don’t like Letitia Wright, even though she stole scenes every time she was on the screen. Ani-vax tweets and her religious beliefs turned people off during the cancel culture wave. To the point they don’t even believe she was injured which delayed production, OR they blame her for getting injured in the first place.

4. This is clearly a product of everybody calling everything “woke”. T’Challa had an all female security team, his sister was head of all science and technology, and now people see Shuri becoming Black Panther as the final piece to the shea butter emasculated version of Wakanda.

I don't see how it would be harder to recast than to just use an existing character.

Shuri is an established character in the comics, they hinted that she wants to be black panther in the first film and in the black panther Canon she took over for a whole volume. If he has a child, they'll likely introduce T'challas child in this movie, and shuri will be his mentor. He's going to end up being the black panther from the comics. A sorceror, tech genius and expert hunter and martial artist. He may even end up communing with bast and being led to a NEW heart shaped herb.

I know nikkas loved MCU black panther but he wasn't the same as the comics equivalent. This is the way they can bring that character to the big screen. T'challa dies unexpectedly but leaves behind an heir that's too young to take over. Shuri teaches him how to fight, teaches him the history, and realizes his brain is like a sponge and he's not only soaking up the lessons about tech and fighting, but he's inventing shyt on his own. Within a few movies we'll watch him grow up and he'll take over the mantle when it's time. nikkas just don't wanna be patient but I see the long term plan in motion. This is marvel we're talking about here. It will especially bring in younger fans because they can relate to the young kid growing up with them on the screen like how teenagers who started stranger things grew up with the same characters.

As a reminder, black panther was one of the people who saved the world if not THE savior during the second secret wars story line with God emperor doom and the universes colliding with each other.

Well for one you don't leave iconic storylines on the table. You dont have great rivalries like BP had with Namor and Dr Doom. Three kings who challenged each other regularly. You dont have T’Challa leading the avengers which if Chadwick lived or Marvel recasted would certainly have been a storyline with Ironman and Steve Rogers gone for now.

I think time has proved Marvel doesn’t really have a plan when it comes to these movies. The recent Blade news should have alerted people even more to that. They have a very loose framework where they kinda want things to go. But nothing firm.

As for T’Challa's son if that’s happens, that’s years away likely 10+ years. In fact the MCU will have probably completely rebooted itself by then if its still relevant.

As for Shuri my biggest issue is MCU Shuri was being sold as a tech genius not a athletic fighter and tactician like in the comics. Logically seeing as she is royalty she would be next in line. But Letitia Wright doesn’t have the form or the on screen presence for more than a few mins to sell that idea to me.

Hopefully the movie proves me wrong but I’m sceptical

Budget wasn’t the problem. It was the working on F/X the same time as Infinity War

Wanting a male cbm hero = hate for blac women? Lol. what a lazy argument. not to mention the Blade controversy..
Even with Blade delayed, Rhodey is now leading a film and Sam is Captain America. Fury is the star of Secret Invasion. Kang isnt a hero but hes going the major big bad of two MCU films and people already excited about Majors. They just need to pull the trigger on Blue Marvel.
