I had a Zoom call with Ryan Coogler, the director and co-writer, about seven or eight weeks ago, I suppose, and he took me through... he sort of meticulously took me through all of my character's beats in the film. He took me through the film, but incorporating my character's beats. And some of it was really [laughs], some of it was very odd. And I think he could see by the reaction on my face, some of the things he was saying... He kept sort of stopping and going, 'Stay with me, but this is going to work.' People are in for a real [treat]. I mean we've not done it yet. Who knows? We might make it awful. But no, I'm hoping we won't, and I hope people are going to be in for a treat."

He read the script and thought it was "odd" and hopes it doesn't turn out awful.

He also said this

"Just before Chadwick died, if my memory serves correctly, the script had gone in. They had the script and they were working on the script, and then Chadwick died, and sort of immediately thought, 'Oh, okay, I could see a world where there's no Black Panther then, because how can you do a Black Panther without Black Panther?' So, I still don't know what that's going to look like. And no, obviously, before Chad died, the idea of doing it without him would have been a stupid idea. It would have been crazy. It was very shocking, and still is very, very strange, that he is not here. So, I'm as curious as you are to see what that will look like and I find out quite soon. All I know is that I'm in it."

even he knows the character of T'Challa IS Black Panther. Yet we've got people in here julezing that any ole mf can just be Black Panther

This thread is crazy. Chadwick died and Marvel backed itself into a corner when they announced they weren't going to recast in honor of him. That was a big fukk up, but its too late to do anything about it now. Knowing that, the leaked synopsis really doesn't seem bad at all.

Are the ones complaining about Namor being in the movie familiar with the comics at all? From the jump I wanted to see war between Atlantis and Wakanda jump off. Their rivalry is one of the best parts of the comics.

If you're not a comic head you need to fall back. This is a franchise based around comic books.

Doom War is one of the BP comics I wanted to see made into a movie and it looks like finally happening.

To be stripped away of the chance to have the fantastic dialogue we got between T’Challa and Namor in the comics is so tragic. Really, I wouldn’t feel so indifferent at this project had it been titled as only ‘Wakanda Forever’. But nope.

This is the part that hurts about the movie, not the fact that Namor is in it.

You guys are over here reading leaks about the movie, so you should already know that Secret Wars is coming. Marvel needs to correct course on BP for sure, but kicking up all this fuss when you should know;

When the multiverses converge into one, Marvel is going to have a chance to recast EVERYONE, including T'Challa. No way in hell we don't get a new Tony Starks, Steve Rogers, T'Challa, X-Men, etc.
