In defense of Russo Brothers they weren't given the angle to dive into Black Pnather the hero...he was a side character for Civil War at the time.
I’m talkin moreso Infinity War and End Game. His one cool moment in IW can be summed up as “almost” losing to Steve in a race. And that was to make Cap look cool.

Never got any hits in on Thanos but we all saw how dramatic they were with Steve vs purple man in both movies.

Ultimately Russos are Cap stans, and that’s fine. I’m just lookin for writers and directors who are TChalla stans. This what if ep felt like exactly that. It’s why I Fs with it heavy

It was an Avengers finale and the central characters of that phase were the Avengers.

If Russo brothers were told to do BP I bet they would have done a better job than Ryan Coogler.

At least the action would have been memorable

And yet Spider-Man and Dr Strange got more offense and shine than BP too :manny:

I don’t care about the excuses or hypotheticals. I’m sure Coogler has excuses too and I don’t know or care who would do a better BP retroactively, as the Russos films ain’t without flaws.

What I do know and care about is the What If ep did TChalla right, them other mfers fell short of that :manny:

Spider man is a negotiated property between another studio...and you better believe his screen time is part of the negotiations.

Doctor Strange's arc was literally incorporated with premise of the finale.

I have high hopes for BP2....but if they use they use same formula from BP1 it will be forgettable....we will see

Edit - you edited yours so I edited mine.

Ultimately my point was praising the what if portrayal. The Russos and their reasons are beside the point I’m making; as people can go in circles all day... and same for Coogler.

I’m just glad someone got it right with the What If
But bittersweet too

It was dope. A much needed change of pace that was bittersweet throughout. Consider this:
  • My nitpick with Coogler and Coates was they focused too much on using the franchise for their social commentary and pet characters, that at times I felt T'Challa was just in their way.
  • My nitpick with the Russo brothers was they viewed T'Challa as just a black Steve Rogers without any of the impressive feats of heroism and leadership on display.
However, this What If episode was about no one else but T'Challa and how transcendent of a hero and leader he is. On some Mass Effect ish his paragon levels are higher than any other MCU character.

Agree 100 percent. They showcased all tchallas skills in that what if episode. Intelligent , leadership, humble , charismatic , strategic . He was wat the black panther character was in the comics . Like Batman he always has the answer. The avengers game in doing a good job too at showing different sides of the character. But to me Chadwick will forever be him Rest in a power

They not recasting him. Too soon. At some point they may multiverse him into another actor playing the roll.

Multiverse is a bad idea too, because now you still have to have a story to get him familiar with the old roster.
