‘What If:’ Team Recalls Last Call with Chadwick Boseman – The Hollywood Reporter

“[Chadwick] really enjoyed the idea of being able to play this slightly different version of T’Challa,” Andrews tells The Hollywood Reporter. “The events are so extremely different, but the galaxy doesn’t change T’Challa; T’Challa changes the galaxy.

“Chadwick Boseman understood the importance of Black Panther. He understood how important it is that young people see a Black man standing shoulder to shoulder with Captain America and Thor Odinson, so that they know a Black man saves the world just the same as anyone else.

”Chadwick was so excited about the What If episode portrayal; he wanted to add some of that personality to T’Challa in BP2

she might be a variant of kang imo, it wouldn't make sense to have both her and Ironlad running around so i can see them merging the 2 characters like enchantress/lady loki :manny:

If they make it as both are inspired by stark and his sacrifice it could easily work. And the eventual reveal would be worth it for that alone

It needs to be only the strongest black actors of today.....

Idris Elba
Daniel Kaluuya
John David Washington

and probably the only man who I would say yes to immediately; Chiwetel Ejiofor....that man can act his way out of a steel prison.

Ejiofor is Baron mordo though. Hell except for Washington they've all been cast as other characters. If his role isnt large I'd still like to see aldis Hodge in the role

The problem is they’ve been cast in the MCU already (except JDW).

What about someone a little younger like Damson Idris? He could grow into the role.

& they’ve already stated their not recasting the MCU T’Challa, but maybe a multiversal Black Panther could come in and take up the mantle.

So Mordo uses his sling ring and ends up in Wakanda by mistake, slaps Shuri and says :mjpls: “too many Sorcerers” and shuri looks at him and goes :dahell: “Dis is Teknology”

Eventually he befriends the wakandans and the consider him Bas in the flesh since he knows magic and he’s a black man. And they eventually give him he heart shaped herb and crown him king :blessed:

Yea I saw that. Sad.

What did you think of the episode? Boseman/T'Challa was great.
It was dope. A much needed change of pace that was bittersweet throughout. Consider this:
  • My nitpick with Coogler and Coates was they focused too much on using the franchise for their social commentary and pet characters, that at times I felt T'Challa was just in their way.
  • My nitpick with the Russo brothers was they viewed T'Challa as just a black Steve Rogers without any of the impressive feats of heroism and leadership on display.
However, this What If episode was about no one else but T'Challa and how transcendent of a hero and leader he is. On some Mass Effect ish his paragon levels are higher than any other MCU character.

In defense of Russo Brothers they weren't given the angle to dive into Black Pnather the hero...he was a side character for Civil War at the time.
