Yall nikkas Buggin.

1. They didnt really explore Wakanda in the first movie and now they get to learn heavily on it.

2. They never said there would never be another Black Panther. This movie might very well end with a new BP.

3. Yall nikkas act like T'Challa was the ONLY black person in the movie :dahell:

At the end of the day, I think they will step up and make an even better movie to honor Boseman. And when the trailer drops the same people that are :mjpls: will quickly turn to :blessed:
Agree.

Lots of hot takes here. They did say no recast for BP2 it doesn't mean forever. This was a billion dollar movie these decisions don't get made without some long term planning. And like someone else mentioned, they can use the Thanos snap timeline as a way to say say goodbye to Chad in BP2 and have more time to write in new story line/ recast.

Kind of like Paul Walker in F&F. You have to give fans a respected sendoff for the actor so that the fans accept the next chapter. You can't just "aunt VIV it" overnight.

They were never, ever, ever going to recast T'Challa so soon. I'm really surprised some of ya'll thought this. Like...you REALLY think re-casting such a beloved character and actor so soon is what MAJORITY of people wanted? Ya'll way too invested in the comic book shyt on this to see the forest from the trees.

If Christian Bale died in the middle of the Dark Knight trilogy, they would not have just re-cast him that same year and kept it going.

They're going to let that wound heal and name a new Black Panther in due time. By the time a new one is here, X-Men, F4, and Namor will probably be established in the MCU and it can get on and running.

Just wish they gave us some details. The original release date made it seem like it was going to be the blockbuster MCU movie of the year in terms of resources.

Is Coogler going to shift to a smaller scale movie? II know its got a summer release so could still be huge. If they were originally going the Namor route then it really doesnt hit the same if he's not going against T'Challa. That should be about established Kings going at it.

I do find it odd that of all the 2022 movies....BP was the only that didnt mention any of the cast returning. Unless they felt it wouldnt be a good look to say Lupita/Danai/Duke returning after just paying homage to Chad.

I honestly think they're trying to at least get another bag out of this, and Coogler probable says he'll just wrap his Wakanda with the main characters, considering Feige did say they are just going to focus on the other characters. It only makes sense if they want to keep the 2022 release date. It'll be pretty hard to not bring back anyone else.

No Namor:blessed:

I don't see me watching this in the theater tbh and I went to see BP like 8 times. This news killed my mood last night. I wish they just pushed this back and did the recast later

RIP Chadwick

Cant lie, Im no longer interested in this franchise now. Im looking forward to Blade and hopefully they bring in Blue Marvel and Miles soon.
They truly did underestimated how well the movie would do. That's why they gave IW/EG the top tier effects team while they gave BP the leftover scraps.
I wish all the best for Coogler and everyone else but I can’t even bring myself to care anymore about the film franchise any longer. T’Challa is my favorite comic book character of all time. He IS Wakanda to me.

I’m definitely going to continue with the comics though. Coates will be ending his run soon and i’m excited to see who they bring in next.
Yea I'm starting to think this was about the bag. :jbhmm: @humminbird

Did any brehs here ever watch the show Spartacus? The main actor had cancer after the first season. I think the feeling was he didnt have long to live.

So instead of making a "2nd season" they instead made a prequel/different timeline season. This allowed for them to pump out another season without halting production. It also gave them enough time to find the right actor instead of rushing it for the "2nd season".

Its very possible Feige told Coogler to scrap some things just make it more about Wakanda. Then by 2024 we'll have a new T'Challa in place via multiverse or whatever. Maybe they felt they'd rather rework a script thats going to make bank regardless (in their opinion) than force another actor to play T'Challa in a Covid year.

They should recast man. Yes Chadwick is iconic, but its only been 1 film. Give someone else a shot at T'Challa and let the character grow.

exactly breh lmfao. These dudes are weirdos breh.
RIP Chad but i doubt breh would want them to just dead the character because the role was bigger than him, hence why BP on screen was a big deal. The role is damn near like a James Bond type where its an honor to have the role rather than one dude being synonymous the character like Iron Man. Yall would have a point if we had 10-15 yrs of Chad being in the role. In reality there isnt even 3 hours of footage of Chad playing black panther.

This move stinks. Ending T’Challa this early after introducing him is a poor choice. Why not just push the BP2 filming back, if you care so much about people grieving and paying respect to Chadwick. Marvel/Disney has dozens and dozens of properties on the pipeline.

Continuing the production process on the same schedule as if he hadn’t passed away is more disrespectful than recasting in my opinion. Given the tragic and suddenness of his death was there’d be no outrage at BP2 being delayed. There’s no reason this just has to come out in 2022.

they woulda been better off doing a backstory on T’Chaka and how he came to power then doing this crap lol.

who knows, that may be the plan now

yeah, that creates a case where you dont have to bring anyone back, and just tie in a bad guy from that period.

maybe set it as some Wakandan students being in class and getting a history lesson. Have the movie end in modern times with Namor destroying wakanda.
