Shuri as BP makes no sense to me. She is a totally different character in the movies than she is in the comics. Why didnt she try to become BP or regain the throne when they thought tchalla died in the first movie? Her own mother didnt think to give the herb to her and she didnt even hint at taking it.

Lastly tchalla is Black Panther yea she had a brief period where she took over but tchalla has been been black panther since the beginning 99% of the time. You cant have black panther for extended period of time without tchalla. She can be BP latter down the line with a character adjustment or as he ages and no longer wants to or can be BP. Which there is a comic on that.

Recast will be emotional and tough at first but we will eventually move on(with the character not Boseman's passing).

I got emotional a while back trying to explain how selfish it is to be to keep Marvel from possibly recasting on Chadwick's behalf...like he didn't understand that BP as a project was bigger than him, look at how he handled himself during his illness. He didn't seem like the type of person to want people to campaign for the death of T'challa (after just coming back to life I mind you) just because he can't play him.

On a smaller scale of course, this is an Andy Witfield situation when he passed from cancer before they could finish the following season of Spartacus. He was perfect in his role, nobody WANTED to see him recast of course but he set the tone for TV greatness and it would be a dishonor to him and the fans to just let it come to a halt. Cuz who they recast did his thing, made the role his own but was never really seen as a replacement, the character had changed story wise and he held his own chapters of the story down without ever imitating Andy or underwhelming the audience.

I feel like continuing T'challa's story is the best way to honor Chadwick's legacy.

T'challa is the only good black man in the entire black panther franchise literary ever other super character is a black women. The other black males are villains or elderly side characters they have yet to create any new black males In marvel and DC there is no one to pass the mantle too.

Are you talking about the MCU or the comics? In the comics there are SEVERAL heroic black male characters including Blue Marvel, Luke Cage, and Blade. In the MCU we WILL be getting Blade soon there’s that. And we’ll also have Sam Wilson as the new Captain America in the Disney Plus show

shyt was a red flag to me so I saw this coming, what if t'challa was removed, what other black males were there? Or who will be Shuri's love interest? In the comics it was some random ass Australian aboriginal, that told me they didn't want to create any more black males for the franchise which was fukked up as there was only 1, and lore breaking. How Tchalla is forced to pick a wakandan but Shuri could date who ever she wants?

the reason why its looked down upon for T’Challa to date outside of A Wakandan is because the royal bloodline continues through him (presumably) so of course they’d want a full Wakandan on the throne. An exception was made for Ororo because she’s looked at as a Goddess.

Shuri, who was never looked at as a permanent replacement for T’Challa, isn’t subject to the same amount of scrutiny. Its actually another nod towards T’Challa’s importance that who he dates and married is a cause for such concern

Also shuri and okoye was created to nerf T'challa now that T'challa is gone are they going to have Shuri be smart and skilled in combat? It was bad for Tchalla but now it's okay for Shuri?

Shuri was created by Reginald Hudlin as a means of adding on to T’Challa’s family and lore and adding a strong black female character that young black girls could root for (he wanted to create a character his daughter found appealing) she was always planned to take up the mantle of Black Panther for a short time before T’Challa reclaimed it.
She wasn’t expressly created to undermine T’Challa or emasculate him or anything like that. In the MCU I can understand why they made her the “Q” to T’Challa’s “Bond” to differentiate her from the “Jealous Kid Sister” who wants the throne angle. It would have made her too close to Kilmonger.

Okoye was created by Christopher Priest and has served as T’Challa’s loyal Dora Milaje and confidante since being introduced in 1998. The reason she’s so loyal is because of the respect she harbors for T’Challa and what he’s accomplished as King.

You bring up representation yet you don't understand what it means. Black boys have no positive representation in anything that is fukked up. Keyword here is positive. Not lame ass side characters or emasculated side kicks. Someone to actually look up to.

Agreed 100%

This is what pissed me off about black feminists they are selfish as hell. nikkas need to stop feeding them, they are already fed at this point they are just greedy.

I'm fukking sick of thug culture being unchallenged.

Agreed

I’m not here to debate the quality of character, because you’re right on that aspect.

again, personally I would of rather of had Chadwick play T’Challa for as long as he intended too. But when things like this happen its best not to force anything. The situation is shytty, and i’m not going to knock Marvel either direction they take.

but any other actor is going to be forced and its not going to be natural. They have an opportunity to create something great out of a tragedy. It’d be stupid to pass it up. It doesn’t lessen his significance if they move on from him in some way.

There are so many other male black characters they are/can pull from that haven’t been touched yet for the MCU. I get that this is the black Superman and he’s an important character and it sucks because he really brought that world to life. But at the end of the day having someone take up the mantle like that so soon is disrespectful and a recipe for a mess.

Id have no problem with Shuri becoming black panther in the future but, that has to be a few BP movies from now. Again she has shown nothing in her character that would make it logical for her to become the next BP.

Also, what do you do with Tchallas character? He has literally been groomed to be the Black Panther since birth. He had been acting black panther since at leastTony stark became iron man. That's mcu canon from the prequal to BP comics by marvel. So this guy just gives up being black panther and gives that responsibility/burden to his teenage sister? It doesnt make any sense. And even if he does they still have to recast him because he has to explain why he is giving it up.

Maybe more importantly shuri is not a long term option for BP. Like in the comics she had a short time as Black Panther and then the role went back to tchalla(who is the BP). Just because dikk Grayson, or Jean Paul Valley been Batman for a short time nobody would suggest them be Batman. To me if you make shuri the black panther your just delaying the inevitable and end up having to do more juelzing in the process. Tchalla would sooner or later have to become BP again. Recast makes the most sense. Shuri can be BP later, and seeing her become BP after years of watching her in movies will be more powerful imo.

Marvel literally has several other Black male superheroes such as Blade, Blue Marvel, Miles Morales and Luke Cage and they also just made Falcon the New Captain America. I do think that T’Challa is the best one we have since he is the ruler of his own country and he’s literally the richest Marvel character.

recasting cheapens the whole cinematic universe after his level of involvement

No it won’t, it would be understood

We got 3 Spiderman, 5 Jokers, 3 Superman, and countless Batmen.

Another TChalla won’t hurt nothing

1 out of the 3 spidermen was trash.

2 out of the 5 jokers were trash (i’m assuming you’re counting Hamill)

2 out of the 3 superman were trash.

And of all those Batman only 3 are worth anything.
