Thats pretty much what account men do, they keep existing clients happy and try to bring in new business. Him finding out the British guy from Jaguar lost his job was part of his job. Pete is always out there grinding and he seems like the type to do whatever it takes to close.
When they started SCDP, they picked Pete over Ken because Pete made clients feel like they still had needs to be met.
Megan's pops was anti-corporate but in like 2-3 lines Pete had this man
at the idea of getting his work out to the world

I meant keeping them paying. But yeah that line to Megans pops was slick.

I'm pretty sure they brought Pete cuz they needed the clients he had to make the company work.

Also, the outfits that Peggy wore in each scene helped to describe the mood of each situation

Yellow
bright, energy, sun, creativity, intellect, happy, joyous, uplifting
Green
money, growth, fertility, freshness, healing, envy, jealousy, life, renewal, balance, harmony
Purple
ambition, creative, offbeat, surprising, mystery, moodiness
The Yellow and Green scenes ended with a positive/cheerful vibe, where as the purple scene ended quite the opposite.

Don't know if anybody else brought this up, but I just remembered that Don's mother was a prostitute. That adds another dimension to his utter disgust of what Joan did & what the other partners allowed her to do.
I don't know if that even crossed his mind. Think he got pissed at the idea of the partners even considering the thought of prostituting someone he respected and admired as we saw last week.
Remember he got pissed at Sal for not fukking with the Lucky Strikes guy because it led to them leaving.
It definitely crossed his mind. Remember that convo he had with the madame at that whore house with the first Jaguar guy?

does his job, likes everybody, doesn't cheat on his wife and even got his side hustle as a writer.

If you think about cut throat Wall Street and Madison Ave businesses who do you think is more successful, men with Pete's moral compass or ones with Don's...Pete is far from dumb and ruthless enough to be a factor..The fact that he's never satisfied makes him a potentially better businessman than Don...I can see an a$$hole like Pete becoming a Donald Trump type...
