I love Trae but he is a distance 3rd right now. Ayton and Luka are looking great. Trae is getting back in the mix after stinking it up in late Nov/early Dec. He has been on a tear of late.
16/3.5/8.3/1.3 on a 47/50/77.8 split in the last 8 games.
I'm not seeing Ayton surpassing Trae yet. Tho he's solid and will be a damn good player.
Giannis is a black “euro”
luka’s white skin gets him points in the media but hoopers are hoopers and if you can ball people will rate you
Luka would not be getting this type love if he was a black euro
Giannis came with a lot of hype. He was praised all over the euro and Greek leagues. It's just that the American media didn't jump on the bandwagon and NBA teams didn't buy it yet. That's why he fell all the way to 15th in the draft. Then all these NBA teams wanted to slit their own wrists for not taking him.
Have you seen the list of scrubs who were picked ahead of Giannis?
Let me help you out
1. Cleveland: Anthony Bennett, F, UNLV
2. Orlando: Victor Oladipo, G, Indiana
3. Washington: Otto Porter, F, Georgetown
4. Charlotte: Cody Zeller, F, Indiana
5. Phoenix: Alex Len, C, Maryland
6. Philadelphia (from New Orleans): Nerlens Noel, C, Kentucky
7. Sacramento: Ben McLemore, G, Kansas
8. Detroit: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, G, Georgia
9. Utah (from Minnesota): Trey Burke, G, Michigan
10. Portland: C.J. McCollum, G, Lehigh
11. Philadelphia: Michael Carter-Williams, G, Syracuse
12. Oklahoma City (from Toronto via Houston): Steven Adams, C, Pittsburgh
13. Boston (from Dallas): Kelly Olynyk, C, Gonzaga
14. Minnesota (from Utah): Shabazz Muhammad, F, UCLA
15. Milwaukee: Giannis Adetokunbo, F, Greece
I can only think of 3 players on that list that should be mentioned with Gianni's and NONE of them is actually even close to being better than him.
Same thing almost happened to Porzingis (sp). There was a bit of a buzz but as usual him being a euro the American media was halfway pushing it. Phil Jackson saw the kids potential and pulled the trigger and got MURDERED for it. Look at him now.
Bottom line is American media and NBA execs have a history of undervaluing foreign players and therefore take a CAUTIOUS approach to drafting them. Luka was one of the few where many bought into it so I give Dallas all the props for doing their homework and giving up what they did to get him.
I'll admit I didn't buy into it either and thought Atlanta robbed Dallas in that deal until I saw him a few games in and even then I was a bit skeptical. But the mofo is erasing all the doubt with his play
