Maybe im seeing things differently :patrice: but Tic led the family through everything and sacrificed himself for his son to come through and continue the journey. There was nothing in this series that made Tic seemed less of a man. Yes his dad was gay and abusive but his uncle was a stand up guy. Even the women had their own faults displayed throughout. Im not here to argue but adding my two cents. As far as the Tulsa riots episode, how did it destroy black masculinity?

Both Tic and the Uncle died from murder

Didn't highlight it enough
Plus everyone of those Black men died including the hetero star of the show. Once he died I was done with it
I seem to remember you liking Black Panther? Where the best fighter was a woman and the smartest was a black girl. One of the hetero leads died for being militant and the hero got saved by two black women.

And the smart black ancestors were wrong and unproductive to Wakanda and only by ignoring them did he do better.

BP was 100% better written but just looking at everything as an agenda checklist seems wrought with contradictions.

Both of them died for a righteous cause just like Malcolm, Martin, Fred Hampton, Medgar Evers, and many other solid black men throughout history. Thats why today we still carry own their stories and legacies. Just as Tic's son is will carry and share Tic's and the family's story. Their family have all the power because of Tic's sacrifice. So as I asked before where in what part did this show destory black masculinity? How did this show make us look bad?

The main character lived and experienced triumph. That means something

We want our men to live through adversity not die on screen and become martyrs. We see enough of this in real life

Thats understandable but everyone's constant trashing of the show can be the very reason why we may not get to see Tic's son or any other male character become that top guy and do some real work. The show isnt perfect but tv series do need seasons to develop its story lines and characters and work out the flaws.

That wasn’t gonna happen, because the people that make this show have no interest in that at all.

How can you assume that? Im still trying to figure out how this show is so anti black men. No one has yet to give me a true example. Educate me breh. Mfers is trashing this show like its showing us being drug dealers, gang bangers, or on some moonlight shyt. Literally Tic's father was the only man who was weak and we actually get to see why in the finale instead of it being some just because shyt. Every other man was putting some work in in the show. shyt even those men in Tulsa was shown fighting, shooting back, and protecting the women.

I heard that on their podcast for the show the writers were talking about how they got saddled with having to use Tic as the main character and felt burdened by having to Attempt to empathize with him. And that lines up with how I feel he was used. Viewers of the show picked up on their dislike for him, which is why he was one of the more disliked characters on social media.

:gucci: link me to that podcast breh. Thats pitiful for them to even say that. Yea I saw alot of women bashing Tic on social media but I had chalked it up to them being some men hating ass feminists. I'm going to dap and rep you for coming with a good reasoning for your perspective. I appreciate when we as men can have discussions without throwing any emotional ass insults.

I heard that while listening to discussion about the show on the champagne sharks podcast, I listen to their streams on YouTube and shows on paetrion/Spotify so I don’t remember which exact show I heard the Lovecraft talk. But thanks for the rep and dap tho.

This was pretty apparent to me.
