Lol it's a PR job. What's a 20% pay cut for a few ministers going to do? They're already plugged in where the real wealth is...they won't miss it and it won't put a dent in the deficit.

2/3rds of Saudis work for the govt. Half of govt spending goes to wages ($120bn). That's where they need to make cuts if they are serious but they won't touch that right now. They're probably preparing the people for the real cuts by showing them that they're starting with themselves.

The fall in oil prices since mid-2014, and the consequent sharp state spending cuts, have weighed heavily on the kingdom's construction industry but in particular Oger, given its size and reliance on government contracts.

That's how the Saudis became the ruling family, they killed all enemy tribes and doled out the loot. At first it was just food and water. Then it was free houses, free university education, free healthcare, free cars. And then it became free toys, free gas, government jobs, and so on. Every year they have to spend more to keep the loyalty of the other tribes.

On top of that, decades of sitting on ass getting the illest handouts from oil money made the Saudis lazy as hell. They have zero work ethic and expect to be rewarded handsomely all the time. shyt's fukked
