Christmas time can't compete with summer time. Nice sunny weather and kids out of school will always beat cold weather and the frenzy of the Christmas traveling/shopping season. There are going to be some broke families by the time Star Wars drops

Yea, I forgot to mention ticket prices. People are usually broke around that time of year. Last weekend before christmas. No way SW is getting the same amount of sales as JW. They would have to cancel christmas for that shyt to happen.

I say it doesn't matter. If it's a movie they want to see and a movie that is billed as an event, much like this one will, then I don't see it mattering at all. We can't go off of history with this one because it's freaking Star Wars breh. This isn't Peter Jackson's King Kong we're talking about here. Or even Avatar. This is Star Wars. I'm not saying you're wrong but to discount it entirely I think is a tad misguided on your part. This isn't some fanboy shyt either, It's just real talk. This movie is going to be everywhere. Star Wars hype is going to be everywhere starting in september and reaching its apex around the release of the movie. And if the movie is good too? Psh

Well I guess you are discounting people that spend money around christmas and need to budget. Taking your family out to see a movie for $15-$20 a head the week before christmas isn't practical to the average family. Not every star wars fan or family is white and rich breh. And it's not like the movie is going anywhere. A lot of fans will just wait until the new year. I really think it will be just the hardcore fans that go first weekend. Last weekend before christmas is a busy ass weekend breh. $200 mill. It's never been done. Not even buy Avatar which had more hype than any movie before it. And yes I'm comparing it to Avatar cause that was the most hyped movie in hollywood ever.

Yea I get what you're saying about it having more generations of fans. My thing is do people really go to the movies as much as the summer at Christmas time? And the 50-60 year olds who want to see it might just wait for bluray since they are old and shyt.

yea, people dont typically go out in droves like that to the movies around christmas unless it's a kid movie, but this is star wars...not only that, this isnt your typical christmas movie...it's a summer blockbuster movie coming out in a time without any comp from that type of movie....

as for 50-60 year olds, they gonna be hitting those matinees up cause they gonna want to see this in the theaters like they saw the other movies in theaters....this thing is a tradition to some people man...just wait and see...

You talking first couple weekends or overall? Cause i did a little research and both Titanic and Avatar released at the same time SW is gonna release.

I'm basing a lot of my SW hate off of those shytty ass prequels breh. I just don't have faith in the franchise like I used to. Then again, Jurassic Parks sequels sucked, so maybe SW7 might be the saving grace. I doubt it's gonna do as good as JW though. That's just my opinion though.

I can understand the hate but JJ has seemingly done everything right in the marketing and we're not even at the tipping point right now. Not even close. Not to mention that game coming out in november that looks pifftastic.

Not to mention the toys..the tie-ins..the rebels show in disney xd..the fact that this shyt is going to bombard us everywhere for more than 2 months and then once they go on the press tour? That hate in your blood might be boiling by that time. But remember, we had the same discussion about jurassic world: the sequels sucked, it's been too long, the movie looks ass from the marketing..not to mention all the coli critics saying it looked like a Sci Fy movie. And then look what happened

I remember standing in line to see the Empire Strikes Back in 97 with my boys like a true fanboy. I can't believe almost 20 years later and I'm doubting one of my favorite franchises. Those prequels really killed my love of star wars. I still watch 4-6 like every other year, but I never imagined being hyped again for another flick. If the reviews are solid though, I might just dust off my light saber and dip into a matinee show while my wife is christmas shopping.

I feel that. I'm already down though. I understand the issues with the prequels and can isolate them properly. This is a completely new regime taking over in every creative facet and that's what star wars needed; new blood

And freaking physical sets and practical effects and not treating it like a video game. No diss to Lucas at all because by all accounts, he's a good dude and a good human, and clearly he's creative, but I just think the game had passed him by like Cudi in The Wire.

I'll check it out. On the same note tho one of the writers at collider is upset the movie is making this much money just on the strength that he feels like it's bad. Lol like he was infuriated. And he's around our age so I guess the nostalgia didn't hit him
