Ok fukk all the box office success, is this shyt actually worth seeing? I thought the trailers looked terrible, and still have no clue why it's been so successful.

This may not be a great movie or even a very good one but I had a great time watching it. It brought me joy going back to that world and made me feel like a kid again. Can't think of many other movies that have done that.
Also glad it beat avengers as I have comicbook movie fatigue...even if the record may only stand 6 months.
Universal has the mindless entertainment on lock this year with this and f7

I don't think Star Wars will beat JW's record. This movie appeals to so many demos where SW will be huge, but mainly appeal to SW/sci-fi fans. JW could have been an original movie, cause the trailer and marketing sold it perfect for people that didn't care for the franchise any more. Just by this thread, you can tell people are seeing it who didn't even care much to see it, but went just cause of the hype and buzz. Them numbers won't be matched anytime soon.
Idk homie..I think Star Wars will appeal to more than just sci fi fans. It's got the same things going for it that jurassic park does: Nostalgia, adults, kids, families, and the extra addition of Christmas time

Yea, but when do Christmas movies outsell huge ass summer blockbusters? If anything SW might (maybe) have a bigger opening weekend if the stan set is on full force, but how are they gonna make as much at christmas time than JW can make in the summer? I know it's a bigger franchise, but JW just changed the game with those numbers.
lol what?!?!?....this is almost as bad as the cat that said star wars only appeals to a certain type of people.....anyway, star wars is gonna crush these numbers....you are really underestimating the drawing power of star wars....the shyt has a following since the 70s....seriously, think about that for a sec....since the 70s....so we gonna be 3-4 generations deep by the time episode 7 comes out....the only thing that can potentially stop star wars from smashing records is the lenght of the movie....if it's too long were they cant get people in/out the theaters fast enough, that'll slow it down...if it's not and it's around that 2-230 hr mark, records will be smashed left and right...
This is the only reason I think it might not beat it is because it's coming out at Christmas time. I think I read the record for a Christmas movie is 90 million and I'm sure this will shatter it but what if people are snowed in or want to spend time with their families and prefer to see it the next week or something. Doesn't hateful eight come out on the same day as well?

Yea I get what you're saying about it having more generations of fans. My thing is do people really go to the movies as much as the summer at Christmas time? And the 50-60 year olds who want to see it might just wait for bluray since they are old and shyt.
When its Star Wars, a truly bonafide cultural phenomenon for 40 plus years with fans young and old, you kinda throw history out of the window

Yea, but how many of these fans go to the movies at Christmas time? If you can show me a movie that has released around that time that has sold over 200million then I'll agree with you. If not, it's just wishful thinking that you are gonna get all of the fans to come out opening weekend when thats a busy ass time of year with shopping, christmas parties, family, etc. If it beats JW I will be surprised af.

Christmas time can't compete with summer time. Nice sunny weather and kids out of school will always beat cold weather and the frenzy of the Christmas traveling/shopping season. There are going to be some broke families by the time Star Wars drops

I say it doesn't matter. If it's a movie they want to see and a movie that is billed as an event, much like this one will, then I don't see it mattering at all. We can't go off of history with this one because it's freaking Star Wars breh. This isn't Peter Jackson's King Kong we're talking about here. Or even Avatar. This is Star Wars. I'm not saying you're wrong but to discount it entirely I think is a tad misguided on your part. This isn't some fanboy shyt either, It's just real talk. This movie is going to be everywhere. Star Wars hype is going to be everywhere starting in september and reaching its apex around the release of the movie. And if the movie is good too? Psh
