This sh!t is like Poetic Justice. "Jaws" turns 40 years old next week, it's celebrated as the very first Summer Blockbuster. Now 40 years later "Jurassic World" is breaking records. That means Steven Spielberg has been breaking records for 40 years. Is he ever going to fall off? Also "Jurassic World" has Easter Eggs from "Jaws" and "Jaws 3" which I thought was funny.

biggest worldwide weekend debut of ALL-TIME 511.8mily

204.5 milly domestic, 2nd behind avengers :blessed:

its friday and saturday were better than the avengers so it might actually beat it once actuals come in tomorrow :gladbron:

In North America, some rival studios have Jurassic World tying with or beating the first Avengers, but Universal is being cautious in projecting Sunday traffic because of Sunday night's NBA Finals game. Studios always estimate their weekend number on Sunday morning, followed by any adjusted figures on Monday.

we did it brehs

I kinda feel like the finals won't cut into their take tonight
Spectre probably gonna hit a billy when it releases.

:smugbond: I plan on seeing it thrice

I loved it. Theatre was PACKED for a sunday afternoon. Movie was legit. Chris Pratt pretty much carried this movie.

Idk if I would say that. Truth be told, Bryce Dallas Howard did most of the heavy lifting in the movie. She got most of the screen time, she got most of the "big" moments, and she's the only character in the movie who had an arc. Pratt was awesome awesome awesome as the han solo indiana jones type, but I think she carried the movie and he was along for the ride

I agree Marty about Game 5. I think "Game of Thrones" Finale and "Game 5" will cut into it a little but there are reports of sellouts on today Sunday in the damn morning. People are going to see this thing regardless.

Exactly. People like being a part of a cultural moment and on the real, you can always DVR game 5 and game of thrones. And if not, you can catch the highlights of the game or catch the game of thrones finale online tomorrow. Now if we were talking about the super bowl, that'd be a different story

Thats where you're wrong *jayz voice*

in the words of the immortal Marv Albert tonight is the pivotal game 5

though it is a tied series and tonight isn't necessarily a deciding game like game 6 or game 7 would be so you might be a little right. we will see.

but then again every game has continued to smash ABC rating records dating back to they started broadcasting the finals in 2003 #ballislife

Sports is the only thing that is DVR proof in my opinion. There are very few people that are patient enough and able to avoid spoilers with social media etc

I am almost thru now and I had to stop come here just to say WTF, at that whole wack emotional scene after the pterodactyl attack. Sh!t was atrocious. People are screaming, yelling and running franticly and he's kissing this b!tch in the middle of it all, then she gives this fake motherly speech to the boys in all the madness. STOP!

And the storyline was atrocious. Horrid ass movie so far. Some okay action, nothing spectacular though. And why the hell are they even allowed to make fuxing dinosaurs again. And these characters are annoying and their dialogue meh in so many places.

Lol at making even bigger dinosaurs then before and thinking they could control them. And militarizing dinosaurs...OKAY?! Eh eh. And you telling me you have whole fuxing island of these creatures who've broken out before but you dont have any weapons on hand to put them down quickly if they get out of hand. Still no real security measures. SMH.

I found myself laughing at the absurdity of this spectacle. I'll only have interest in another Jurassic Park\World\Adventure if Turok is in it putting in work to clear these white folks mess up. Just do the damn Turok - Jurassic Adventure movie and end the whole series. PLZ!

2 things:

1) where you do you live?

2) you pulled out your phone mid movie to type all this on the Coli? :dahell: :wtf:

See, I think the only thing DVR proof is football lol. I love basketball and baseball but in America, football is king. That's the one thing people do not want to DVR

That's all true but I think a big movie like this, one you can take the whole family to and one that's buzz just gets bigger and bigger, that's worth more than game 5 of the finals. Again, if we're talking super bowl or some big NFL playoff game, then yeah I'd agree but I just don't see any sport besides football taking viewers away from a big time movie. I could be wrong, but that's.....just my thoughts *jayz voice*

That sentence contradicts itself. Game 5 of the NBA Finals featuring LeBron James is as much a watercooler/cultural moment as anything going right now. Big time sporting events are the one thing people only DVR as an absolute last resort.

But back to the topic. I think this movie missed the boat on one large aspect that drew people to the franchise to begin with, the wonder and amazement of seeing dinosaurs interacting with people. Sure the park had been open for a few years in the movie but to us it was all new. They should have spent some more time showing the attractions they had and how they impacted the visitors. Seeing a real life dinosaur is enough to have the average person break down crying from joy/emotions. They could have showed how they improved the security systems to keep the visitors safe, maybe have some jackass kid taunting those spitting dinosaurs and walking away unscathed after it got pissed (and come up with a better way for the new dinosaur to escape). They rushed through all the wonder of a dinosaur park in order to get to a run of the mill slasher flick. And now after this movie there is no way they can ever get to a point to recapture that feeling. Its gonna be all ridiculous action from here on out.

Again, I already said I truly think the one sport in this country (america) is football. I'm not saying basketball isn't a big deal but football is THE big deal. It's still the ratings king, still the thing that moves the most units, shuts the most blocks down, keeps the most people in doors and away from movie theaters. There's a reason people won't schedule big movie releases around the super bowl but could give a fukk about the NBA finals

Now "Avengers 2" was effected by to many other entertainment options:

Saturday May 2 Avengers second day open:

Kentucky Durby - Afternoon
NFL Draft - All Day
NBA Playoffs Game 7 - Evening
Fight of the Century Manny Vs May - Evening

This is one of the reasons "Avengers 2" couldn't break the record.

regarding the last line are you already forgetting about the Mayweather and Pacquiao fight preventing Avengers from hitting 200 million? And there's no point to DVR any sports game in my opinion. You will see the score on your apps or somebody texting you or social media and then you can just watch the highlights.

but sports is also something that you want to see live and have memories from and the Cavs have a chance to pull up a major upset

but then again I may be biased basketball is the only sport I ever cared about.

but strictly looking at the numbers these finals are on par with the 98 finals with MJ's last shot as a bull. That's beyond impressive for this day in age was so many other distractions

Also the lack of good word of mouth. Not saying it's a worse movie than jurassic world but this one seems to have a better word of mouth from audiences, not critics, even though I think the critic opinion on this is as the same as age of ultron.

That's fair. I'm not disagreeing with anything you're saying breh, I just truly think football is king and yeah a big event like the mayweather fight is going to shut it down but I'm talking on a consistent basis, football does numbers that other sports can only dream of doing. the NBA and mlb would kill to do NFL numbers on a regular basis. Stuff like the mayweather fight is a once in a lifetime thing and truly a big deal and cultural event but that's something that seemingly the NFL provides every damn year.
