And no one in 1977 said "I'm going to see this Star Wars movie because of Harrison Ford", but look who was pretty much a star afterwards. Because sometimes all it takes is one movie to push a guy. GotG was that movie for Pratt. and the Marvel excuse doesn't fly when most people predicted it would be the studio's first flop. And The Lego Movie? Sure, it's a 'mere' voice acting role, but it looks pretty damn good on his resumé.
So the receipts are already there. You just refuse to look at them.
(p.s. if you try to claim Harrison Ford didn't achieve full stardom until Indiana Jones, why do you think Spielberg and Lucas picked him instead of Hamil, the lead of Star Wars, in the first place? Star power!)
lol, that's hilarious. Most people knew RDJ as the once big time actor who fell into drugs and alcohol and ruined his own career. So much that even he though he was making small steps back into the picture, people were joking about this alcoholic playing a superhero (which was also deeply ironic considering that Iron Man's biggest character arc involves alcoholism). He didn't get paid much at all for the first movie (in fact, Terrence Howard said he got paid more for the movie than RDJ because at the time he was the bigger name) and it's only because the movie was highly successful with RDJ breaking out as Marvel's leading star that his pay day increased substantially with the sequel and each appearance afterwards. But at the time the first Iron Man was in production, he was not even close to being one of Hollywood's most popular or sought after actors.
