I like how the jokers descent into madness is the catalyst that plummets Gotham into chaos and anarchy , and is the cause of the childhood trauma that induces Bruce Wayne's mental illness and ultimately leads to his becoming Batman.

Also, Batman is supposed to represent the elite and order (as does Thomas Wayne), as opposed to the Joker repping the disposed and chaos.

That order ab chao elite vs anarchy theme is also in the movie with Bane.

A Joker movie was a guaranteed success. Don’t matter if it was 400 mil or 1 bil, the money would have came in as long as it didn’t rely on a big budget.

WB takes an L even in a win.

Beyond the box office success and the millions they will make off that.. it's not even getting into the millions they will make off of it in the future and it's headed straight for HBO Max likely in 4K, the money they make off this will never stop

That happens all the time with major studios, they still gave the green light and they allowed Phillips to do his vision of their iconic character. You combine that with them letting Wan do his thing on Aquaman and Shazam doing it in the way of a 90's coming of age film and letting Damon Lindelof do his thing on Watchmen.... they on a winning streak right now

i mean after getting 2 other studios to co finance it and Todd still not letting up for over a year of negotiations, they had to green light it.

they had ZERO faith in the film or in Todd. So much so that Scorcese had to Pump fake that he’ll direct the film so as to get those idiots to give the go ahead . The original news of this film was that Scorcese was directing, he used his name to help Todd
