Any of the recent negative reviews are a reaction to having expectations set from all the huge praise from the festival circuit. Also because some of these reviewers feel they need to be on the right side of not praising the movie because of the supposed controversy, which is unfounded, surrounding the themes of the movie.

This movie accomplished everything I wanted it to do when it was first announced way back when. I thought it was just terrific.
So it's the Dave Chappelle Sticks n Stones of films?

Nah I mean largely it’s gotten very, very positive reviews, but there has been an oddly weird late negative review push this past week after the story about the movie became about it inspiring real life violence, etc

I think it’s because these reviewers got their expectations out of wack after the festival circuit praise and because they don’t wanna act like they are supporting a movie that has all that energy around it. They trying to be safe and not be attached to that negativity (which is all bullshyt after seeing the movie)

Just finished it. It was good but people are hyping this shyt like it's a cinematic masterpiece. Don't get me wrong it's a good movie and if it wins golden globes and academy awards it's warranted but it's not a cinematic classic. Ledger is still the best cinematic Joker.

For people somehow hoping they could tie this to the DCEU or future Batman films you'll be disappointed. Also was hoping for some small easter eggs for comic nerds but there is little to none. No surprise appearances from anyone from the comics. Only comic appearances are those we already know(Thomas Wayne and young Bruce Wayne). Thomas Wayne is not really likeable in this movie.

Zazie Beetz was looking real good but then I remember reading an interview of hers and she said she doesn't shower regularly. :scust:

I can somewhat see why people are concerned that it could inspire people but honestly it's being blown out of proportion.

Some dumb mother actually brought her children to watch this film! :mjtf:

Overall I liked this movie but people are really overhyping this up. THIS NOT A COMIC BOOK MOVIE!
Yes, it is. And I'd love to see what your rules are for something to be considered a comic book movie (but not really, since that statement is just dumb as fukk on every level).

The clown laughed to keep from crying but was he even capable of showing any emotion besides laughter and anger?

Y'all can neg me if y'all want but I actually preferred this Joker to Ledgers:ehh:. Idk if it was Pheonix himself or the script but this Joker character was far more disturbing to me than the Dark Knight's. Some scenes you really felt for him then in others you kinda got why he was such a loner.

The atmosphere was very tense and the whole film felt dark. There was scenes filled with alot of tension and you were on some ":lupe:" wondering what was going to happen next.

The plot twists were good and felt "natural". Not like with some movies that try too hard with it. There was plenty of symbolism and literary devices in the film as well so people who enjoy those things will like this film. Someone else said it but there was plenty of scenes in the last 20 mins or so that I thought it was gonna end and that ending would've been great but it continued on and actually got better with each scene:wow:.

Overall great film and I was expecting this to actually be wack but was a 9/10 to me.

Edit: For anyone saying it's wack it's most likely because they expected a "comic book" comic book movie. This is more so a drama based off a comic book character.
