The military was never concerned about acts of violence at the premiere of taxi driver
You know that's a false equivalency. There were no mass shootings when Taxi Driver dropped.
How sad that poor weird looking white people will be treated as a threat when trying to keep a pepsi bottle under their trenchcoat while simply trying to enjoy a flick. Imagine how that must feel...
What has become of this once great great country...
Honestly, I empathize with all sides of this issue. I don't begrudge the families who were touched by the Aurora shootings. Trying to raise awareness about gun violence and gun legislation is probably one of the few things within their control. All they can do is try. At the same time I'm a creative, so the idea of art of any kind being censored because it *might* provoke violence or unfavorable reactions is a no-go for me. Art seems to always shoulder an unfair burden in these conversations because it's an easy target. No one ever talks about the role of mental health, dysfunctional home life, access to semi-automatic weapons, etc.
That being said, I know exactly which IMAX I'll be seeing this movie at- the one with the police guard at the ticket taker. I don't care if you're going to see Aladdin, they check bags, purses, and give everyone a thorough look over before allowing you inside.
