Aint that the truth. Last week we did takedown drills..and i was :deadmanny: afterwards...and then i remembered we had to do 10 sprawls afterwards :noah: :to:

I overdid it a little bit and had to slow down, but im good to go now. Trying to get right before the NY Open in April

Dont quit. Dont give up. Friend. I had a friend who used to destroy me on the mat never come back to our academy because i got the best of him on the mat one day after he took a long hiatus. Lets not put our pride in internal academy competition but instead put our pride into defending ourselves and friends in real life.

Cosign what @Mr Somebody said. Dont give up breh. shyt that goes on inside of the academy is only practice breh. When youre with a heavier dude theres still technique to be done. My professor weighs about 140, and im about 230-240 and he still bodies me. Technique will always win. If you can sweep a 200+ man you can sweep someone in your weight class during a fight. MMA gyms usually have shytty BJJ classes, because their focus isnt on pure BJJ. If you can find a legit BJJ school, or an MMA gym that has a legit instructor, i say give it ago.

Exactly..I hated that it was not pure BJJ, which is what I was really interested in

Striking is still important to learn. There is a level of intensity some friends need to protect themselves in the real world that can be lost when one gets to accustomed to friendly grappling. Still lets all learn brazillian jiujitsu so we can protect our friends with minimal damage.

cant believe theres a jiu jitsu thread on the coli. this forum is cool as fukk.

i trained for almost 2 years, but spinal surgery derailed my black belt dreams for the time being. i didnt earn my blue belt unfortunately and i have about 9 months since i last trained.

i am planning a comeback tho brehs. after i get married at the end of the year ill have more wiggle room with my funds and hopefully by then my back will be healed up enough that i can come back with more confidence.

its tough as hell trying to shoot for a double leg or osoto gari a nikka when you have no confidence in your back or core.

i miss it brehs :to::wow: but ill be back :leostare:

Keep your head up though...the road will be tough at first but it gets easier. I've been out of action for over a month now cuz of some minor health issues, but im bout to start that road back.

Old injury from working in a warehouse n then got monkey flipped and made it worse. Had 2 herniated disks. I'm better now I think need to strengthen my core again.

Do some yoga breh. Thatll probably be your best bet to strengthen your core without damaging anything.
