If he was down to come back I'd say let him..... I don't think he was a bad Hal nor was he the issue to the known problems of the movie.

Heard a rumor there's still the possibility of Pine being GL with Hal Jordan being an identical descendant of Steve Trevor. Not sure how I feel about that vs the traditional identical Steve Trevor grandson. At the end of the day if they follow canon there will still need to be a present day Steve Trevor.
