I don't know if this is correct but I read that they aren't skipping memorial weekend this year so they can qualify for this years emmy's. They started later in the month this year so I think they were pushing it.

The eligibility period for the emmy's is June 1, 2015 - May 31, 2016, but there is a rule in place (called "hanging episodes") that if you get a certain amount of episodes for your season out by the deadline, then the entire series qualifies for that period.
