to the folks who read the books was Ned Stark and Robert great warriors when they were younger? How great were they?

going back to season 1 who do you think would have won the fight between Jamie and Ned if it wasn't stopped?

IMO, both in their prime Jaime would win against Ned. He's forte seems to be one on one fighting.

Robert wasn't a swordsmen (he carried a warhammer) but he was good enough to shatter one of the best Knights (Rhaegar) in combat. Arthur Dayne (best knight of his generation) said Rhaegar was pretty good and one of the finest he's seen.

It's hard to guage Ned's skill because when he went to fight Arthur Dayne and two other Kingsguard Knights, Ned had six people with him. Everyone got killed except Ned and one dude (Howland Reed) who saved his life. Ned is a great tactician and has a whole lot of war experience though.

I know I have posted many reasons why Stannis Baratheon is a fukkin boss but this scene here really drives the point home for me.The Lord of Light blesses us with his glory 4 minutes in. The dialogue between him and his soldiers is beautiful

*Stannis watches half his fleet get destroyed*

Stannis-"Prepare to land"

Soldier-"Your Grace..."

Stannis-"The dwarf has played his little trick"(Only Stannis would call what Tywin did a "little trick")

Soldier-"But Your Grace...Wildfire"

Stannis-"He cant play it again"

Soldier-"We are too far from land.The fire,their archers hundreds will die"

Stannis-"Thousands"


*Walks to the front of ship*

*Looks at his men in their eyes seeing the fear*

Seriously my dude did his thing the last episode and even though he lost he was a man in defeat his soldiers chose to run away he had to be pulled away from the fight he is definitely a cat of a different cloth

Whoever is in charge of smilies I need a Stannis smiley in my life.If you look at the video at 4:26 the face he makes before he says "thousands" is fukkin PERFECT
