yo this is true..at least a point or two taking away..wow..ggg should have been penalised. what about floyd vs berto?
ggg did his job ie beating up his opponent and stopping him.
Point taken away, yes. I was always against RJJ getting DQ'd. Take a point or two let the guy recover. Neither was done maliciously IMO.
Other than that people's opinion tend to be double standards. He fights "Mexican style" and people criticize his boxing skills. He uses boxing skills to completely neutralize Lemieux's only chance of winning and he gets criticized. Haters gonna hate.
@Newzz had a point with the Broner fight. Broner did what he needed to do to beat Molina. People wanted more engaging, which only would have benefited Molina.
And people are going overboard with the Mayweather-Berto comparisons. It completely ignores the real situation. Action fighters tend to be more interesting to casuals than classic boxers. Just how it is. When fights get made between two action fighters it is always hyped more than a boxing lesson. We have to remember that most of us here as hardcore fans are different than the general public, we appreciate the nuances. I love watching Floyd, Rigo, or Ward show off their skills. But the casuals will always prefer Rios-Alvarado.
GGG is just that guy who people love to hate right now. People upset it was PPV...but it is about gauging GGG's star power to see if they can do PPV fights in the future. It wasn't about the fight being a true PPV event.
People criticize his opponents, yet there isn't a single match at 160 he hasn't made that was available.
They say he can't beat Ward...well now with Floyd retired, Ward is my #1 PFP fighter. I have always said I would favor Ward. So the #1 PFP fighter who is a whole weight class above is the guy who people think will take down GGG...okay...that is just saying how good GGG is when that is their calling card.
Add in that GGG beats down his opponents or proves he can box them and gets criticized, yet we have other fighters that can't do either as well, but somehow get viewed as more skilled.
