I just found out that Amazon redubbed all the movies with most of the same cast no wonder why everyone felt "off", especially during the end of the first movie where Shinji's VA is the only one showing emotion

The trailer from the previous movie that stuff never materialized in the final movie. Probably rewrites.

Pretty good movie, really shows you the frame of mind Anno is in (like the rest of the series). He wanted to just end this all on a happy note like the manga. That being said, I do feel that they dropped the ball on this, they couldve made a movie for the ages not just in anime, specially with it being so long too. But I know it was a good movie to me cause it didn't even feel long, I was invested.

Last critique but they could've added a super serious horror element with those red eva dummies trying to get into the village, should've had em break through and kill a few folks, would've def put shinjis back against the wall and challenge himself just as he got his confidence to not run away. I give it a 7/10

You make a lot of good points but we aren’t supposed to look at these as stand alone films. If we take all as one big narrative then 3.0+1.0 is already into the final quarter of the Hero’s Journey.

I remember watching a YouTube vid about Eva once which pointed out nothing was actually explained in the original run of the show. Took a bunch of movies and alternative endings to explain shyt and it still don't make any got damn sense
