this is more so related to the OG version. I'm watching thees newer movies now, and some things are different, but it still relates

The story (on the surface) is totally nonsensical but less interesting than the subtext and often meta-text messages apparent throughout these movies and the original series.

When I was a teen I was way into this shyt and Xenogears (a game with similar story telling). As I grew older I realized it's all just pretentious nonsense. Even the creator of Evangelion called his fans crazy.

But that's the thing, the story is just a vehicle for Anno to express his views on human relationships through the characters, all of whom are flawed in their own way, not just Shinji.

Everywhere
It brought the usual mecha, mindfukk, and apocalypse porn of Evangelion is known for. But it wasn't out right depressing like the last movie.

All in all gotta say it was worth the wait.

Watching this made me wonder if this was his “original” ending all along. I think him having time to properly have the story come to a conclusion that he really envisioned. The others were more or less him being pressured and not in the right state of mind.

I think his original vision for the ending was probably a mix of the last 2 episodes and some of EoE

I kind of like the original ending, constraints and all.

Nah, Anno was going through a terrible depression when he did NGE and EoE so what we got was his vision at that time. EoE is actually a "happy ending" when you take into account the themes it touches on and the final decision and revelation Shinji has.

Rebuild is Anno going back and showing a new take on his story from a healthier perspective mentally. Hell, most people believe the Mari character is completely meta as it represents Anno's wife, who was the only one that was able to make him happy and live with his issues.

:salute: this is what it seems like. all of the endings represent his current perspective at the time. I know breh has to be like "im not fukkin with this shyt ever again" :damn:
