How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
I disagree I think it's hitting a level above slick, superficial entertainment. I was listening to a pod earlier and they alluded to the fact that you never see how drug addiction affects an entire family and in Euphoria we are shown how Rue has been affected and is dealing with it but also how it's ruined the lives of a lot of people around her, how her sister is dealing with it, how her mom is reacting... The show is deeper than you are saying here.
City on a hill is similar in the portrayal of a junkie and how he effects his family, we in the golden age of TV series, fam

This finale was all over the fukkin place

No explanation how Fez magically flushed all of those pills with the cops literally breaking down his door and then he’s magically an armed robber but couldn’t put the strap to Nate and let that thang fly. He needs to move his family and go to trade school because the drug game has him hostage.

Rue on the other hand is a little fukking girl and is about as thugged out as a Tellytubbie. bytch broke down and cried at the train station like the Easter Bunny slapped the shyt out of her. Literally cried herself into a flashback of losing her dad and snorting who knows what all in the same night. She’s a fukking mess and Nate was right; Jules will forget her ass the same way she forgets every random that she sleeps with.

McKay was missing in action in this one and maybe it’s for the better. We are left to assume that he starts getting his shyt in order in college now that the abortion is out of the way. Hopefully this scare gets him focused because this back and forth to go play with the high school kiddies is beneath him. Do better breh.

Rue’s mom put up with a lot of shyt that not a lot of black mothers would deal with. At the very least, Rue has earned a fukking dropkick thru a plate glass window for the shyt she has talked and not backed up. No way you can let a 90lbs addict call you a bytch to your face and violate your personal space like that. She’d be dead in these streets.

The ending was a bit over the top and almost has a feel of the Kanye “Runaway” film during the All of the Lights sequence. Walked that fine line of cringe and genius but felt too sappy.

He didn't have the drugs or money so Mouse was likely to kill him. He was desperate so the robbery was his only option. Nate didn't have him under any pressure.

The ending was outta place. Can't add a musical number out the blue.

That said I enjoyed the season flaws and all.

I imagine black women who marry white dudes are built different.
No way a woman like that is putting hands on her children. Women are are raised as culturally African/Carribean are a diff story

i'm digging this show overall...it was a cool little season of tv. but that finale was pretty wack. i mean, what was with the song and dance routine at the end? shyt was fukking bizarre.

and i still don't understand what leverage nate has over everybody. they all got much more damaging shyt on him and his pops than he does on them.

The finale was cryptic probably because they weren't certain when they filmed it if they would get another season. Considering that, it works. The dance number and Rue falling at the end clearly was some arthouse depiction of her relapse and an overdose.

I guess I’m the only one that loved the ending?

I thought it was beautifully done and reimagines the euphoric feeling of a high when it’s been three months since your last hit. Her playing with life and death with her mother, sister, and father.

Her family is the reason she came back, she wants to be better, but not for herself but for them, as she narrated in the first episode.
