How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
I think Rue is on the more extreme side. But I remember kids dying of Heroin overdoes in the late 90's. So, I think in 2019 the drug use has become way more mainstream. Pop culture has kind of glamorized being a junkie, especially in the music scene. Kids did drugs when we were growing up, no doubt. But being a drug dealer was more glamorized. I think that's why there's a disconnect between between our generations and today.
I haven’t gotten to watch it yet, but I will agree with you regarding drug use. I graduated in 96 :flabbynsick: from a small ass New England high school, graduated with like 60-70 kids, but the drug use was excessive as fukk, we lost 3 kids from my class to dope overdoses, I personally along with a lot of my friends were using blow, smoking a lot of weed since like 5th grade, drinking every weekend (alcohol not from our parents liquor cabinets was easily the hardest thing to come by), prescription drugs were nothing to get, a lot of my friends were rolling heavy Thursday to Sunday (raves were huge back then) I didn’t really like ecstasy, mushrooms and LSD were very popular (I personally have never taken a hallucinogenic, I am already a depressed person, no reason to chance a bad trip) and I assume just like most high schools, there was a lot of sex. The only thing that really intrigues me, or rather I am curious about is, the way that trans folks are accepted, because I know for a fact that my school would not accept that, and also how technology affects kids nowadays. My daughter just graduated high school in 18, but she was very, very sheltered, my wife has been very sick for a long time, so she was good enough not to want to put us through stress of being a fukking idiot like I was in high school. My wife is kind of on the fence on watching this show because she read the reviews and thinks this is like normalizing high school porn, but I am genuinely curious to judge for myself if this good and artful, or gratuitous try hard garbage

I think people are going to project their own feelings onto this show which is leading to polarized views about it. I was extremely tame and normal in high school but definitely knew kids like this show and I connected with zendaya's character having an anxiety disorder & self medicating because I've done that before. So far the show seems pretty well done but we'll have to see how crazy they get with the next episode. I definitely didn't feel the first episode was super gratuitous but it is super adult material that people have trouble accepting would be possible for people in high school probably because they have kids & fear this is what they're doing.

I like it so far. My group of friends was a weird mix of geek, jock, and social butterfly types but we all went to same middle school and stay hanging out. Only thing we did really was drink and some weed but that's about it. The reveal at the end of the jock and old guy fukking trannies was underwhelming. It def has a little bit of insecure vibe with the so called imagery and trap music. The twins had me :lolbron:

Same shyt on my end breh. I liked the show and so does my wife. She said it's normalizing drug use. I told her she's full of shyt :russ:

She went to our area's version of Bel Air Academy. The cats there were like the kids on this show :stopitslime:

It's trash because of the women?

The 1st episode was ass. nikkas is only saying otherwise because they fantasize about anything other than black women.

Super mixed girl as lead. Check
White women showing their little ass t*ts. Check

Some of y’all nikkas on the coli are corny hell. Nothing about this shyt was dope.

I guess this the last time I'll be seeing you in this thread. Thanks for your opinion.
