Just saw the movie. It seemed to imply that Strange either had to use his power to help people or stop his hands from shaking. Why can't he do both?
naw i see it as a reminder of sorts, like this is how he got to where he is now, his tragedy birthed new possibilities (the man thing the ancient one sed about him).

He was a cocky surgeon that started to only care about accolades and money where the sorcerer supreme is selfless and protects the universe without recognition so its a contradiction to do both
It wasn't really either/or like he'd have to choose to use magic for one or the other. But if he's defending the Earth against cosmic threats then he obviously can't be a surgeon. It's not like Spider-Man where he can just throw on a mask and live two lives, everyone from Dormammu to Mordo knows who he is.

I get that he's not going back to being a surgeon, but you would think that he still wouldn't want his hands shaking if he could help it. I agree with @KOOL-AID that he didn't use the magic on himself in order to keep a reminder that he needs to use the powers for other people and not himself.
