@ Datto complaining about the Sleeper Stimulant Quest being too short. If it weren't for Youtube and the internet hardly anybody would have figured out all those steps to getting it.
You're part of the reason it's "short" for everybody.
I still don't get how anybody just figures out everything in this game on their own. Is there a strat guide for Destiny that has all this info that these Youtubers just magically just know in order to make their content videos?
Here's the thing with DattoYeah, this whole thing with the Sleeper Simulant has really shone some light on some of the base issues with these online personalities that "cover" one game. People who are in no way close to the average person playing the game get to be the face of the fanbase and shyt.
Here's the thing with Datto
Dude basically built, if not at the very least, significantly contributed to Planet Destiny. Bungie reaching out to him, and his network/channel/site, is nothing more than any other developer reaching out to any other major community site. The only reason that kind of thing is more visible in Destiny instead of other games of the genre such as CoD, BF, Halo (to an extent), etc is because Destiny's late-game content almost forces its players to use those sites to take part in late-game events. You see the same type of developer/community bridges in games like LoL or in the fighting game community.
Nobody is out there saying that Team Spooky is getting option select tech from Capcom. Same thing.
Completely agree.I get that, and completely understand it. But a player like Datto (or any other streamer, for that matter) complaining that the quest was too short is ridiculous, because the average player can't dedicate 8 or more hours of their day to playing and breaking down the mechanics of the quest. For example, I just got the Sleeper Simulant early this morning. I flat out didn't have the time to do all of the first steps (mainly the warsats) in one evening, and I had a lot of fun with the whole thing. To complain that it's too short because you literally dedicated a day of work to the meatiest part of it is ridiculous. On top of that, Bungie essentially made the quest this way as a make-good for the Gjallerhorn. The weapon is meant to be a boss-killer, and instead of being at the mercy of RNG to get it, you are essentially rewarded with a good to great weapon (haven't used it yet, so I don't know personally) just for putting in enough time for playing the game. It's basically an answer to the one strongest complaint against the game in its first year, and nikkas STILL find a way to be mad about it.
What does playing 6+ hours a day have to do with the lack of clues to figuring the stuff out from just playing? This game doesn't really lay out what needs to be done in a lot of instances for the tasks that have to be completed for some of these Quests.Yal on some real conspiracy shyt....
but if there's one thing I've learned on the internet, its that you should never underestimate a group of people with way too much free time on their hands. I don't think Bungie is feeding people shyt. I think these dudes play games for 6+ hours a day and find shyt that Bungie can't even keep safe from data mining. Otherwise, Bungie wouldn't be putting shyt inside of time-locked events and hidden within patch/updates.
Naw, I think they were there. Just waaaaaaaaaaaay out of the way. What does playing 6+ hours a day have to do with the lack of clues to figuring the stuff out from just playing? This game doesn't really lay out what needs to be done in a lot of instances for the tasks that have to be completed for some of these Quests.
Even if you play a ton, how would the player know the codes were how the Knights Spawned in? Were you paying attention to that? Or were you trying to just beat it? How about the one chest that you need the Scent of the Worm or something on to unlock it. Where in the game were you supposed to look at to figure that out?
So you're gonna believe someone made a wrong turn for the black spindle the same hour it came out and found out what they had to do within a hour of the mission being released?Naw, I think they were there. Just waaaaaaaaaaaay out of the way.
The only one that was really rough was the SS/Knight one. People that found the Black Spindle found it by simply taking a wrong turn. Other people are glitching into areas - but that's been going on since Beta. Same with the data mining... and that's been going on since Reach.
Even then, that was like one thing. It was weird, but lets not act like there wasn't an entire generation of off the wall puzzle solving just a few console generations ago. The Scent was easy and I got it off right the bat (playing tomb raider as kid made 'a scent' = 'ascent' too easy). The thing is, these days, all those people are connected and able to communicate with each other on a level that was never even possible or fathomable before. You can hide something now for all of 20 minutes without the world finding out. That doesn't mean that Bungie is giving out free info, that means that people are able to pass info faster than ever.
Also, if Bungie was leaking info - then why the hell would they resort to time-gating? That makes no sense.
Yeah.So you're gonna believe someone made a wrong turn for the black spindle the same hour it came out and found out what they had to do within a hour of the mission being released?
Meanwhile on thecoli, dudes will have an entire man's linkedin, professional resume, and cuckolding secrets in one day. That pattern thing was figured out the same day it was released. You mean to tell me someone figured that out without a tip?
