I know Dave's material inside and out. You and I both know who those crack head jokes were not about white people. In fact he made it a point to address the opiate epidemic about white folks specifically during his Netflix run. Anybody clamoring for the return to the old days of Tyrone Biggums, black babes on corners selling drugs while thumbing their nose at the current iteration of DC is suspect af, IMO.

A certain group of people (black and white) want Dave to go back to doing borderline 'c00n' shyt.

Thats the thing that gets the side eye from me. Dont tell me you got a problem with these new jokes because of the LGBT subject matter and then in the next sentence say Dave should get back to jokes about police brutality and corruption against black people, child abandonment, etc... Oh so its all good when the subject matter has to do with the current plight of black folks but any other group and all of a sudden its a problem.

The crazy thing is early Dave also did jokes about how women who wear revealing clothing should expect to be treated like a prostitute. Im 100% sure if he told that joke today the Me Too gang would be at his ass. So they want him to go back to those jokes, which also wouldnt fly in 2021?

Chappelle’s work offers us similar contradictions, and a similar Rorschach test. Is the story here “rich comedian attacks marginalized community” or “Black comedian attacks elite consensus”? That’s why The Closer is structured as a series of dares. Does this joke bother you? What about this one? Early on, the audience bridles a little at a joke about the Chinese origins of the coronavirus. Chappelle soon warns that it’s only going to get worse. Running through the culture war’s greatest hits, he dares critics to take unequal offense, and prove his point about a hierarchy of suffering.

And of course, some critics walked straight into the trap. The negative reaction to The Closer has revolved largely around what he says about LGBTQ people. Chappelle has always been clear about the political argument he is making with this material: In a few short years, gay- and trans-rights activism has achieved the kind of cultural veto that Black Americans have failed to win through decades of struggle. In Chappelle’s telling, no other movement has such power. The rapper DaBaby, censured for remarks about AIDS, was once involved in the fatal shooting of a Black man at a Walmart. (He was not charged in the death but was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon.) “Nothing bad happened to his career,” Chappelle says. “Do you see where I’m going with this?” In the United States, he says, you can shoot and kill a Black person, “but you better not hurt a gay person’s feelings.” And no other movement, Chappelle maintains, has been granted such immunity to criticism. Bashing feminists for their privilege is so common that I’m surprised Chappelle’s jokes about “white bytches get[ting] tear-gassed” during the Women’s March didn’t landhim a book deal. The implicit hierarchy of suffering is also the point of his “space Jews” jokes, which rely on an anti-Semitic trope—Holocaust inversion, in which the oppressed people are reincarnated as the oppressor. The Closer is Dave Chappelle pushing all of our buttons, and inviting us to reflect on which ones provoke a reaction.”

Id be willing to bet the whole efforts to "cacel" chapelle aint due to the trans comments, i think the "space jews" jokes pissed off some people, and they are using the trannies to their advantage to attack him

Great as always. Didn’t think anything he said was wild. I think he’s done some of those bits or variations at live shows I been at.

In the same vein of George Carlin people love/hated his older stuff to preachy to much social commentary too much making me think i just want stupid jokes and want to laugh. I want 7 dirty words not the American dream bit
