Litecoin is short term for sure. I would consider Monero a long term hold.

TBH, I will never understand the appeal of litecoin apart from the quicker verifications because of the volume compared to bitcoin.

The good thing about litecoin is that you won't really be seeing much negative development news about it...because there really isn't any development going on.

Not quite accurate. Litecoin has SegWit and has developers working on MAST and covenants.

Litecoin is mostly an hedge against the Bitcoin drama though, once those issues are resolved in Bitcoin it's likely to tank again

Just buy slowly. We have seen some pretty dramatic dips with bitcoin and my guess is if it goes under 2K we might see a mass panic.

Word. People don't realize you dont have to blow your whole load on any one price. Buy up and down the card and in theory you should end up with a good dollar cost average

Looks like it. This was a great test case however. Scaling has become an issue and that's the next target. The tech is not ready for worldwide instantaneous transactions yet.
