Just got a Bitpay card. Any of you pleghbois got one? Basically you transfer btc into your Bitpay account wallet and you can use the USD equivalent as a Visa debit card. You gotta give em the same info you'd give any US credit/debit card (real name, ssn, etc) so it's not anonymous. I think I paid $10 for the card. No transaction fees in the US (but there is an exchange rate descepancy), 3% overseas, $2 ATM fee. So in theory if you wanted to cash out some BTC right away you could do that minus $2, which is way faster than going thru Coinbase or Gemini or whoever :krs: That to me is more amazing than being able to use it asa a debit card

Max balance is 25k, max spend/load is 10k per day. Cash withdrawal limit is 3k a day $750 per transaction

The "exchange rate" wasn't even bad. I asked it let me load $50, it gave me a btc amount and a wallet address. Came out to $50.17 worth on Gemini. For $1000 it would have been $1006. But, I think it cashes out your BTC as soon as it confirms, so if the price dropped between the time you sent your btc and the time it confirmed (one confirmation) on their end, you don't 'lock in' the value - I transferred $50 and got credited for $48.25

edit their exchange rate is always gonna be a little off. Right now Gemini is $2380 and Bitpay is 2376.89

I sent $50 and it took about 18 min to confirm, but while I was waiting for that I sent $1 and it confirmed right away so idk what happened there

Only downside I can see is that once you have transferred btc in, it basically converts it to USD and there's no way to transfer it back to btc and get it out of the account in btc form. So if you transfer $100 worth of btc, only spend $85 and want the $15 worth back in your main btc wallet, you can't do that. So it requires a little bit of thinking ahead and you might have a little extra USD that you woulda wanted as BTC. I read that Shift card doesn't have this problem but that card is only for users of gay azz Coinbase, but Shift has a 1k daily limit anyway :manny:

This is good if you need an emergency hotel room (:shaq:) or something and don't have cash but you have btc stash you can dip into. Obviously many of us would prefer to just buy the hotel room directly with btc but the Sheraton won't accept Bitcoin today so this is the next best thing

Why do you want to be the 2017 version of pizza boy.

Spend fiat, save bitcoins.

:beli: That doesn't answer my question. What if you did a freelance job and get paid in btc? What if you hit a lick in btc poker and want to buy a train ticket? You "all or nothing" types are the absolute worst. I have btc that I'm holding and I have btc that I am gonna cash out whether you and your 5-word arguments based on nothing like it or not

you know..eventually..at some point..you are gonna have to spend some of your bitcoins right? Or die first? What is the point otherwise? To say you defeated the banks? To have a high score?

When that time comes people would rather have BTC than shytty fiat. No need to use privacy-invading third parties. You know that's the entire point of this?

that's why i said:

The way things could or should be in the future "when the great day comes" does not help me today, Tuesday 6/27, if someone pays me for something in btc and I wanna use that payment to buy a tank of gas. If you're waiting for a check payment in your bank account on "Friday" and it's "Wednesday" and you want the gas NOW and not LATER, the revolution might have to go on without my .02 BTC that I will use to buy gas now
