However, that’s not the biggest Affleck directing news of the day. Seemingly confirming earlier rumors that the actor/filmmaker would be directing a standalone Batman movie, Deadline reports that Affleck is indeed working with DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns on the screenplay for a standalone Batman movie that Affleck will co-write, direct and star in—after Live by Night, of course.

Per Deadline, Affleck and Johns are “in sync” and may even finish the script for this Batman movie before the end of the summer, at which time Affleck will turn his attention to Live by Night. The report says it’s not entirely clear when the Batmanmovie will be slotted in the DC Movie Universe, but it’s a priority and could result in the shifting of other films. Snyder is expected to begin production on Justice League Part One sometime next year for a November 2017 release, and Patty Jenkins continues to develop Wonder Woman with an eye towards that film’s June 23, 2017 release date. It’s possible Batman could shoot after Wonder Woman for a 2018 release.

Either way, this is all very exciting news. We’re not only getting an Affleck-helmed Batman movie, but we now know that he’ll definitely get to the extremely promising Live by Night first. I expect we’ll hear more details about this plan at the Warner Bros. Presentation at Comic-Con on Saturday, so stay tuned to Collider for our continued coverage from San Diego.

My studio sources tell me that Affleck and Johns are well in synch and have more than found their rhythm. In fact, they are likely to turn in a script before the end of the summer, prior to Affleck going off to direct Live By Night in November. Affleck postponed that pic to star in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. The Batman movie would shoot after he finishes Live By Night, and the plot would reflect the Batman character that emerges after Batman V Superman and Justice League, the latter of which comes out November 17, 2017. DC and Warner Bros have set a long list of superhero movies that take the Marvel formula of interspersing characters from one film to the next, so it’s unclear when Affleck’s Batfilm will be slotted.

Not even breh, it's just the idea that why in the hell would I keep going back and forth with you on something that we're just guessing on? It's stupid. A good debate is when you've got tangible evidence and the only tangible evidence we have is from directors and actors and you're saying fukk that, so what do we have then? Historical patterns to which I'm saying those don't always matter when it comes to this because you make a rated R movie, at least this one, at a lower cost than you would if you needed it to be a huge huge hit and appeal to everyone, that way you make your money back and you allow your talent to take more risks. You're saying fukk that too so at that point lol I got nothing breh..go to bed wake up in the morning and be happy. And since I respect you, I'm not going to keep arguing a point that clearly you disagree with while you argue a point that clearly I disagree with. That's insanity breh. you like pissing contests I don't

If that's all the 'tangible' evidence we have, again, why were movies like T2 marketed to kids? Don't use some cheap ass "it was the 80s, shyt was different" excuse, why would they make the movie R-rated when a huge part of the marketing is aiming towards kids who can't even see it?

Let me also ask you this, since you're so attached to the narrative that they're making this one for a lower cost because it's R-rated, how is that working out with the PG-13 rated Fantastic 4 being produced for a lower budget also? You think the narrative there is that Fox is thinking Fantastic 5 is a risky property too that might not make its money back, or is Fox just being generally careful of blowing up the budgets of their 'new' superhero movies as the competition (Marvel, WB/DC) grows stronger and stronger? Think about that, then think about how you still continue to argue even after playing the 'agree to disagree, I'm not gonna argue further' card, and just concede to my superior arguments.

I don't think your arguments are superior breh lol. Like I said, I'm going with the cats making the film and what they're telling me. T2 was 20 years ago at this point and times have changed in regards to how rated r movies are marketed to kids, most of them aren't now. We lived in a different time man. So if they say they're going for a hard r rating and going for a fight club vibe and said their budget affords them to do that then that's what I'm going with. We'll see in February
