Nah we are showing our age in this thread, young nikkas really don't care about waves mo more. It's dreads, twists, and nappy fros now.

Sheeiiittttt these lil nikkas got a wave competition going right now at my school.

All the brehs in the senior class.

shyt so bad the principal is thinking about banning brushes because they just sit in class brushing they shyt all day.

So what would you recommend?

I’ve had 360s off and on since I was 10 and my shyts is spinning right now.

I used to use cans Dax’s and later Sportin Waves and brush my hair like a madman with a Boar bristle brush.

It wasn’t until I was in the navy that one of my homies from STL gave me the cheat code and it’s never failed me.

All you have to do is brush your hair for a couple minutes in a 360 pattern from your swirl while you’re in the shower, when you get out, dry your hair to the point that it’s not dripping wet, but still very damp.

Put your pomade on (I prefer yellow shea butter) and brush it a few more times after that, keeping the pattern, then put your du rag on until your hair is totally dry.

It’s gonna take a couple weeks for your shyts to start spinning, if you’re starting from scratch, but that’s all you have to do.

There’s no need to brush your shyt a thousand times a day.

Edit: also if you find that your waves is coming in cool on top but not really on the sides and back, put your du rag on, then tie a bandana around the sides and back with the knot in front, Aunt Jimama style, before you go to sleep.

You might have a low quality du rag that isn’t fitting the contours of your dome correctly.

I can remember at 12 and 13 spending hours on hours brushing my hair :wow:

That’s why my hair will wave no matter what now. I put in that work and paid my dues

no.

you don't need products.
just water a 3d even cut with the grain and a stocking cap.

when you do not have waves on the side.
it is because your barber has no technical know how on hair.
plus has no idea about technical skills let alone cutting in 3d and patterns.

you do not need a brush for waves. It is a lie.

you do not need products for waves.
If you use products you got a buttah, or buttahs not actual waves.

I hear you, we’re pretty much on the same wave.

I use shea butter instead of pomades because it keeps my hair looking healthy, but you might be right, I may not even need that shyt because even when I run out, my waves still be crispy until I get some more.

You def don’t need those pomades though, I think they lead to hair loss.

I’m 40, haven’t used pomades or any type of grease in 15-20 years and I still have a head full of healthy hair, while damn near every nikka I came up with is going bald.

I mostly attributed that to nikkas wearing hats though.

I never was a nikka that wore hats regularly.

I also never had an issue with waves on the sides, but the nikka that put me on to the water game used to do it, so I edited my post for nikkas that might be experiencing the same issue.
