Finally saw it. Started off slow, but the second half was excellent!! Loved the connections to the original and still told its own story. I saw some reviewers saying that it was ‘too woke’ it was only one scene that would fall under that category; mind you this movie was made prior to the 2020 uprisings. Yeah that message was there but that wasn’t whole plot.

Nothing's wrong with u it was very disappointing
i watch the OG & the new one back to back idk just wasn't feel this like the OG something just felt off about it
It was kinda slow and it felt like certain scene/character where not needed to me and didn't add anything to the movie. The bathroom scene/the ending with the cops the racist art critics it felt to preachy especially compare the OG that hit on thing i think more subtile

Somebody originally said that this movie was a bit on the nose, and I agree. Candyman 2021 felt preachy with particular story points(gentrification for example). I also wasn't feeling the Burke character. He was a bit too coincidental in the film and felt like a lazy way to introduce Candyman. The film definitely has some great thoughts, but seeing that Peele, Decosta, and Rosenfield got screenwriting credits there were too many chefs in the kitchen for a focused story. 6/10. Decent directorial debut for Decosta though
This.

It was okay, probably a 6/10. Doesn't compare at all to the original...it was more "uncomfortable" than scary

Thought there would've been more comedic moments since Peele was a writer, but it was probably just enough since the movie was only an hour and a half anyway

Yes you nailed it with the “uncomfortable” description. I felt very uneasy after watching it. Maybe because the first one was uncomfortable as well but scared the shyt out of me too.
