In 2021....

A Candyman challenge going viral would have be dope if done well. Would have been a cool way to see more blood, kills, or at least footage of bodies.

Movie was watchable. Took to long to get going. Wish the story was just Candyman marking the baby without ole boy stepping in pulling strings.

Yeah Anthony looked so defeated right before getting his hand sawed off. There had to be some missing scenes prior to that point in the film. I agree Anthony had no will to fight for his life like he nothing to lose and just was going to accept his faith. Helen seemed so much stronger of a character than Anthony. She did not give up at all no matter if it sacrificed her on life at the end. Now my only gripe of the OG film was that goofy ass ending with her killing that funny looking dude at the end. Seemed so forced and Hollywood.
I felt the same way. However, this movie actually made that ending stronger imo.

My only issue (not really the films fault)

I wanted more OG. Not getting that was a letdown. However, this was doing something else.

It also could have used a bit more grit to it. However, the sleek style does fit the look of now days.

Finally saw it on Prime.

first half was okay, great dialogue. It was like slowly Anthony was figuring out his own origins as well as candyman. As far as the third act, It seemed rushed.

The part where Anthony is talking to his mom, it seemed after that scene, there is a scene or two missing or something. And how everything tied in with the laundry mat guy didnt resonate with me either.

Also I didn’t see candyman kill any black people either, well maybe he killed that girl in hiding in the stall and the laundry mat guys sister so I retract that statement.

I just thought the ending could’ve been better. The third act didn’t ruin the movie, but it couldve made it even better. I would watch this again

All of this.

Except, I dont need to ever watch again probably. Will just keep watching the original.

Man... Candyman 2021 had such great build up, but went completely off the rails once we lose our protagonist.

Candyman must have an extended cut, because the climax felt so butchered and rushed.

The 1st two act was building up to something so nice, and was ready for the film to go full Candyman for that payoff. Instead... We got a couple of lunatics over acting. Such a disappointment.

I think I can pinpoint the exact moment the film fell off... The high school bathroom scene.

That scene felt oddly out of place in what was up to that point an meticulously crafted film with so many layers. Then, it just fukking fell off.

I don't understand...

Candyman 1 and 2 were so enjoyable and unique. 100% that 80s/90s campy horror that just so enjoyable. Candyman (2021) felt like a very typical arthouse horror film where it feels so out of touch of its elements and it never comes together... or maybe studio butchered the 3rd act.

CANDYMAN 2021 was butchered for sure. There were scenes missing from the trailers and also like I stated before there was a scene with Helen Lyles ghost that was cut right before the police were killed in the third act.
