The people of Haddonfield should start preparing for the return of Michael Myers.
Halloween is aiming to slash into theaters by 2017, and all we know is that Blumhouse, Miramax, and Trancas International Films are partnering on the revival.
John Carpenter, who directed the seminal 1978 slasher classic, is acting as executive producer, and will score the film to help deliver an authentic/classic sound.
This leaves one major gap to fill: who is directing?
Bloody Disgusting, who broke the news on the franchise’s departure from TWC/Dimension, has been told from various sources that Blumhouse is in talks with Mike Flanagan to write and direct.
Flanagan is the obvious (and excellent) choice, being that he just released the phenomenal slasher Hush, in which a deaf writer (Kate Siegel) must fight for her life in silence when a masked killer (John Gallagher Jr.) appears at her window. He also teamed with Blumhouse to release his indie Oculus, and also helmed Ouija 2 for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes.
We have been able to confirm that Flanagan is in talks at the moment. Watch for updates as they come in.
been meaning to peep hush, it's been on my NF recommendations
Exactly. Where Zombie fukked up was in trying to explain why Michael was the way he was. There is no explanation, the dude is just pure malevolence given human form."Michael Myers is not a character," Carpenter said at an event announcing the deal. "He's not a person. He's a force of nature. He's one part human and one part supernatural."
