Newcomer Letitia Wright has joined Marvel’s “Black Panther” starring Chadwick Boseman.

Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira are also on board. “Creed” helmer Ryan Coogler will direct.

Marvel had no comment on the casting.

Boseman will play T’Challa, the prince of the African nation of Wakanda, who must take over the throne after his father’s murder. Marvel unveiled the character in “Captain America: Civil War” in May and his standalone film hits theaters on Feb. 16, 2018.

Joe Robert Cole is co-penning the script with Coogler. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is producing the movie.

Wright’s role is unknown at the time.

The rising star got her start on TV in the British series “Doctor Who,” “Cucumber,” and “Chasing Shadows.” She recently landed a key role in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming big-budget tentpole “Ready Player One,” beating out dozens of young actresses to costar opposite Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke.

“Ready Player One” bows on Mar. 30, 2018. Wright was most recently seen in Michael Caton-Jones’ crime drama “Urban Hymn.”

She is repped by Identity Agency Group and Gersh.

Has to be for Shuri or QDJ. I have no clue what other role it could be.
Another female cast that's :patrice: in the looks department. Recipe for disaster folks :francis:

I dunno brehs, I'm getting QDJ vibes on this one. :patrice:

Then again, my fancast game has been way off on this movie so :yeshrug:
Considering how short she is....I think you're right :patrice:

She fits that "Robin" role.

I'm assuming she joins up with T'Challa after Nakia ends up leaving him/joins forces with Killmonger.

Thing is, the movie is set to have a lot of stuff going on. How are they going to fit QDJ's in this? Especially with her background...even if they go real light on it for screentime purposes.

The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to agree. Because they haven't named anyone from the royal family.

It's pretty weird that Ramonda and Shuri haven't been casted yet by now. Ramonda in particular. She should be a shoe-in.

Hell, non of the royal family has been casted so far.

Maybe its not reported yet...:manny:

I really hope this isn't the kind of a movie that avoids the family(or have them as bit characters)..:francis:

I don't see how that is possible. The BP movie is supposed to be soon after Civil War. The king of Wakanda AND patriarch of the royal family, T'Chaka, was killed in foreign soil. It would be strange as hell not to have the royal family be involved somehow.

Yea hopefully they casting hasn't been reported yet. It could be some of the actors they want are still trying to figure out their scheduling.

Its almost November. Movie shoots in January so hopefully we'll hear something soon. :francis:

I gotta say I'm still curious what made Ava pass up Black Panther..
