Do you read comic books? They seem to be taking elements from Riri and incorporating them into Shuri. MCU Shuri is nothing like 616 Shuri - it's not even close. It really is Riri with a Shuri name. it's not Shuri when she was first introduced or since her resurrection. This Shuri doesn't seem like the one that would assume the BP mantle type. However, most suspect that BP will take over the RDJ MCU-carrying role as time goes on. That means possibly a new an Iron-themed person, and they already have one lined up in Shuri. That's where it comes from.
I was arguing with this kid about Wonder Woman vs Black Panther and female representation/empowerment and he ridiculed Black Panther for being a male-dominated society where only men can rule.
I listened to his rant with a smile on my face
and let him finish before reminding him that there were female rulers in the scene when T'Challa went to talk to his ancestors and that Shuri and Nakia could have challened T'Challa

as he realized I was right...but still couldn't admit it on the spot so he tried coming up with excuses
He eventually came around though and admitted the portrayal of women in BP was superior in every way. Hurt his soul though.
