I been playing the score in my headphones just walking around in life. Taking my dog out to shyt, lookin at all my neighbors like :birdman: when the killmonger drums drop in. Makes everything feel epic.

Breh from another forum (hardcore BP fan) had some interesting thoughts :jbhmm:
The cuts weren't jarring to me to the point where I didn't know what was going on. Choreography was on point too. The way he cut Creed, I was surprised how some of that didn't translate here. I did read Marvel sent in the Homecoming editor to give the film one last sweep after Coogler's team had done it.

I can see Coogler's handy work in the movie. The characters are fully realized, the drama well directed, the politics subtle yet poignant. I think he had to filtrate it through the Marvel formula and even I, someone who really enjoyed this, noticed the familiarities.

The Marvel-ims became more apparent in this because the differences almost highlighted them in a way. I found a lot to be different, but as a fan of these films it sort of turned me off, (even more than I already was) some of the Marvel check boxes that are in every film.

It's like Coogler got his freedom buy it was a selective freedom that was in 2/3 of the film. That final act, he was handed a check box.

But he still had a heartfelt and poignant denouement to bring it back to character which I liked. To sort remind people this was all about character. A second viewing helped me.

Creed proved he can inject his vision into a franchise, pay respect to that franchise and still deliver something fresh. BP proves it...to an extent. He's a guy who can really bring a personalized approach to commercial films, but under the right circumstances. I don't put a lot of the issues on him.

I'm really interested in seeing that other cut of the movie...

I LOVE the film. Best in the MCU. But they gotta get that Spider-Man Homecoming editor up outta here for the sequel and make a longer movie.

Creed had way more long takes and it wasn't just for action scenes.

cgi in that last fight scene was just bad. they should have had a real fight with the actual characters in a non green screen location

Just noticed that T'Challa is not scientifically smart in the MCU.. guess they'll leave that to Shuri as if T'Challa was also that smart, her character would kinda be useless and she provides comic relief

He is, it just hasn't been emphasized as much as his other skills. When he's talking to shuri in the lab about his new suit, there's a quick line about how the old suit was his design

Bernardin: Characters who all have agency except for one. Motivations except for one

I'm still tripping on this dude shytting on T'Challa :why:

Roundtable discussion with Narcisse and a few others tho :ehh:

Oh shyt they ganging up on him. :ohhh:

I'm a bit confused on that. Chadwick had, arguably, the hardest part of the movie and, overall, he did a very nuanced performance with it, which I feel was the right way to go.

T'Challa's motivation was trying to acclamate to the new role, but he obviously learned that it's easier said than done and that it can be a rather dirty job if one allows it. The conflict is T'Challa trying to stay "clean" while doing his job, despite the situation often requiring him to go the opposite way for his country's benefit.

On top of that, he had to fight (sometimes literally) to stop his country from being dragged into possibly a humongous conflict with the outside world via Killmonger's actions.

His motivations are pretty clear to me :yeshrug:

Rewatching Black Panther, I

- Appreciated Chadwick's performance way more than I did the first time.

- Michael's acting weaknesses became more obvious. His line delivery is a bit forced. (I will say though, where he says "a kid from Oakland believing in fairy tales" and gives T'Challa this hurt look was very heartfelt).

- Love the Jabari tribe. When they started their chant interrupting the Wakandan civil war I got chills.

- I still got chills watching Okoye fight.

- The music is perfect. Best score in a MCU movie.
