But you have to realize, there isn't much of a market for basketball without the names/nostalgia. Most of these guys aer my age (mid-to-late 30s) so they can still go. People don't go to Pro-Ams, the summer leagues, even summer AA, celebrity games, and no one watches FIBA. Hell, people are barely tuning into the D-League. USBL failed, and the last thing people were into like that were Rock n Jock and they doomed that.

3-on-3 and 2-on-2 will always have a market, and add some mid-tier stars, with fan favorites and you have a product. There's very few ways you can present a bunch of people no one ever heard of for a sustainable product.
cube + being backed by big buisness is the draw

they are promoted heavy

at this point high.energy games would do more for them than old washed fringe all.stars & role.players

I'm guessing the injuries are the reason for the new pickups.

Just read an article. I didn't realize the players get a share of revenue in addition to their weekly check. :leon:

ice cube isn't a draw.

the initial draw to get people talking & to give it a chance was allen Iverson. and it worked
.
ice cube as the commissioner/figurehead is icing on the cake & a good look, especially with people who are under the impression that he owns the league(which they purposely let people believe) but hes not a draw.

high energy?? its 3-on-3. not full court.

the intensity, physicality, attitude, familiar names & past stars are what fuels the league.

Baron Davis, JO, Ron Ron is their star power, fan favorites like Mauhmoud, Capn Jack, K Mart, Big Baby, Scalabrine, Nate - good skilled players like Shard, Cat, Al Harrington. Then the legends like Doc, Rick Barry, GP, Nancy Lieberman, Clyde's involvement, bullies like Oak & Mahorn. Plus these vets and former All-Stars are gonna pick their friends - not someone they have no relationship with. The HOFers don't want to coach some people that aren't apart of their brotherhood.

You want it to be something it's not. And what you want is something that has no market for the casuals. If that was the case, the USBL would've taken off. The Pro-Am would have a huge following. Hell, a lot of the players you're looking at end up going overseas (which still isn't huge in US) or playing for a novelty like the Globetrotters.

those players will appeal to a select crowd

& it's cool if they just want to be the nostalgia league for old.timers

but casuals are drawn by highlight reels & energy that 99.9% of these washed hoopers don't have

:yeshrug:

it's whatever though

the base is already established now and they still have all the other superstar coaches.

no star power? the tri-state team alone has amare stoudemire & nate robinson, plus Jermaine O'Neal & I think im forgetting somebody.

casuals are mainly drawn by names breh.

their highlight fix can be satisfied via a google search. theyre not gonna support a product that doesn't have names.
