Don’t know if they’ll be able to get out there and campaign in different states with COVID cases going back up. Campaign managers have to get real creative with how they’re going to reach independents/non voters.

good thing is trump will scale back his kkk rallies and not get the coverage he did in 2016. If they do have debates I can see Biden decimating trump. Like making him look like an idiot. Trump has a terrible record as president and bidens team has 4 years of fukk ups by trump.

By my count, Biden and DNC have $122M cash on hand. Trump and RNC have $190M cash on hand.

Trump for some reason doesn't like doing virtual campaign events.

Biden has consolidated the Ds and this fundraising is impressive... its not just the big money that Biden was so reliant on in the primary when he had so little cash on hand.

Its only one metric but it reflects a desire to get Trump out if people are signing up and putting up $25
Virtual meetings would acknowledge that they have to be virtual due to COVID. Trump can't have that. :russ:

People were worrying that Biden might not make it past Iowa due to his fundraising so this is a huge turnaround. I wouldn't be surprised if he continues outraise Trump as we get closer to the election.

Damn, this campaign is going to be the weirdest ever.

Can't have a real convention (unless you're the Rethuglicans), can't go out and do campaign rallies, can't have a debate audience (would endanger both candidates). Almost everything has to be done virtually :francis:.

It’s funny cause last week after the Biden fundraising news comes out, The Hill had reporting from some Dem consultants and former Hillary people acting like Dems in disarray because Bernie hasn’t turned over his email list and actively fundraiser for Biden :mjlol:

:what: A black man was just murdered on the streets which got the whole nation to protest everyday for 2 straight weeks! people were motivated and politicians got off they ass and wanting to get that muthafukka outta office.
Yeah, for two weeks.

People are still out now but the intensity has died.

Saying that, I also realized I didn’t read what you quoted.

America would be over if that happened.

Trump's Next Rally in Arizona; One of the Biggest Hotspots for COVID-19
NPR Choice page

Updated at 11:05 a.m.

Fresh off a rally in Tulsa, Okla., in which nearly two-thirds of the arena was empty, President Trump heads to Arizona for a series of smaller events centered on a key element of his reelection pitch: border security.

The president is scheduled to survey part of the border fence with Mexico in Yuma, Ariz., on Tuesday.

"The president will then participate in a roundtable discussion with local community and elected leaders on border security," a White House official told NPR. "After the roundtable, the President will tour the wall and thank Border Patrol and law enforcement for their tireless efforts."

Trump will be joined by Chad Wolf, acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security; Ken Cuccinelli, the acting deputy DHS secretary; and Mark Morgan, acting commissioner of Customs and Border Protection.

Trump will then travel to Phoenix to deliver remarks at a Students for Trump rally at Dream City Church, hosted through Turning Point Action, a pro-Trump group.

The church, which can hold about 3,000 people, released a statement saying it only found out that Trump would be speaking at the event after it agreed to rent its facilities.

"Dream City's facility rental does not constitute endorsement of the opinions of its renters," the statement said.

Coronavirus concerns

Arizona has seen a spike in cases of the coronavirus recently, and Phoenix has joined several cities across the state in requiring residents to wear masks in public spaces.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said she's concerned about the president's trip.

"We are actually seeing the fastest rate of growth among our young people in the community, and here it is, a rally specifically focused on that demographic," she told CNN. "Public health professionals in Phoenix are trying to tell young people to take this seriously."

Students for Trump includes a waiver similar to the one the Trump campaign gave to attendees of the Tulsa rally, acknowledging the health risks.

"By attending this convention, you and any guest voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold Turning Point Action, their affiliates, Dream City Church, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury," it reads.

Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden called the president's trip "reckless and irresponsible" that is a "distraction from Donald Trump's failed response to combat the spread of COVID-19."

A changing state

Tuesday marks Trump's third trip this year to this once-red, now purple state. He hosted a rally in Phoenix in February and visited a mask-making facility in May.

Trump won Arizona by 3.5 percentage points in 2016, a far cry from Mitt Romney's 10-point victory over President Barack Obama in 2012.

Democrats regard it as a critical 2020 battleground state and are closely watching its Senate race between Republican incumbent Martha McSally and Democrat Mark Kelly, a former astronaut and husband of former Rep. Gabby Giffords. Kelly has been leading in the polls, but the race is still considered a toss-up.

Gov. Doug Ducey appointed McSally to her seat following her loss during the Senate campaign to then-Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema.

Nearly a third of the electorate in Arizona don't belong to either major political party, but Democrats are hopeful that a growing Latino population will translate to a shift in November.

More additional info about it in this DailyKos piece.
Trump is following Tulsa flop with a much less ambitious Arizona rally

Donald Trump is returning to Arizona to make another try at an ego-fulfilling campaign event—and while he’s setting his crowd-size sights lower than he did in Tulsa, the coronavirus dangers are extreme. Trump is speaking at a Students for Trump rally held in a Phoenix megachurch and touring a border wall construction site. Where to start with this?

Let’s start with Arizona’s skyrocketing COVID-19 rates. Skyrocketing as in they’ve doubled in 15 days. As in hospitals are running low on ICU beds. As in a 20.4% positive test rate. And to make matters worse, the state has testing backlogs. That’s the real backdrop for Trump’s visit, as much as he might wish the backdrop would be a heroic image of himself against his racism wall.

Trump is starting his Arizona visit in Yuma at a border wall construction site where two workers have tested positive for COVID-19. He’ll hold a roundtable discussion of border security, tour the operations, and “thank Border Patrol and law enforcement for their tireless efforts,” according to a White House official. Since Trump is sure to lie lavishly about how much new wall he’s had put up, the facts: ONLY THREE MILES OF WALL HAVE BEEN BUILT WHERE THERE WAS NO EXISTING BARRIER. Another 184 miles replace old barriers and not quite 30 more miles of secondary barrier have been constructed.

This is not the story Trump will be telling, it’s safe to predict.

In the evening, Trump will speak at the Students for Trump rally. Dream City Church, where the rally will be held, holds about 3,000 people. Turning Point Action, the group organizing the event, will be distributing masks, which will be interesting one way or the other—either rally attendees will refuse to comply and wear them, or Trump will be faced with an audience of masked people, which he will hate. Masks are an important step, but if the church is full and people are not distanced, they’ll be of limited benefit. And again, this is a state where coronavirus is spreading fast.

Arizona is a battleground state both for Trump and for Senate Republicans, and it’s a battle that seems to be slipping away from them, which is why Trump is making his second trip to the state since coronavirus shutdowns started. But visiting as virus cases explode in the state could backfire on him—and, unfortunately, on the people of Arizona.
